fun. (2009)

have you been introduced to fun. yet?

fun is made up of nate ruess (formerly of the format), andrew dost (of anathallo), and jack antonoff (of steel train). as a big fan of all three of those bands, you can imagine how excited i was to hear about the band forming at the end of last year (especially with the format breaking up). i love the theatrical/pop vibe you get from anything nate is involved in. anyway, they recently released their first single in anticipation of their upcoming debut. i’m including two live videos (after the jump), their single, a demo, and audio of a live show in chicago (courtesy of fun. fan, where you can also hear a clip of a new song). have fun.

fun on myspace.

download “at least i’m not as sad (as i used to be)” (single).
download “benson hedges” (demo).
download fun live at the bottom lounge in chicago.

Seeing steel train, the honorary title, and the format live remains one of the greatest shows I have seen. Nate has such amazing stage presence, and seems to make anything he touches turn into gold.

    Fun’s a cool little group, aren’t they?

In other unrelated news, The Cambiata’s breaking up. ._.
