i know in internet terms of time, this is far from new. i kept seeing it, and kept spacing on posting. maybe i assumed sb would post it. or i was just drunk. whatever. anyway, the track is the lead single from the soundtrack for everyone’s most anticipated movie of ’09, where the wild things are. o also composed music for the rest of the soundtrack as well as co-produced it.

“all is love” seems like quite a powerful embodiment of the spirit of the movie. it was recorded with an untrained children’s choir and with assistance of “the kids”, which consists of yeah yeah yeah’s bandmates brian chase and nick zinner along with members of deerhunter, queens of the stone age, the racounteurs, liars, the bird and the bee, and more. definitely pleased with the results and looking forward to the rest of the soundtrack, as well as of course, the movie itself.

xaphoon jones – testify [radiohead & kanye west mix] (2009)

i don’t know too much about xaphoon jones, but i know this cut is ridiculous. apparently it’s off of his upcoming mixtape, which drops tomorrow via pretty much amazing. on this particular track, jones mixes radiohead’s “reckoner” with ye’s “touch the sky”, with amazing results. it’s definitely peaked my interest as to what mr. jones has to offer with the rest of the tape. i’ll be downloading tomorrow, make sure you do too.

Jay-Z has teamed up with Rhapsody® and MTV to promote the highly-anticipated release of his new album, “The Blueprint 3.” As part of the partnership, the entire album will be available for fans to listen to for free on Rhapsody.com and from MTV’s “The Leak”, almost two weeks prior to its official release. In addition, Rhapsody will also make the new album available for purchase beginning September 8, three days ahead of the street release, and will include two exclusive bonus tracks.

Leading this partnership, three new Rhapsody TV spots will debut starting on September 1 across MTV Networks. In addition to two 30-second ads, Rhapsody will premiere a 60-second version of the ad in the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards on September 13.

tv recap: the wire season 5 (2008)

so i’ve finally finished the entire series of the wire, and i couldn’t have more to say about it. to start, this is by far the most intriguing, important and incredible (yeah!) series that i’ve ever watched. i tend to be a complainer. close friends of mine always tend to whine and pick at me for being whiny and picky about the shows that i like [most recently: weeds. god damn, season five is a joke.] but i’ve yet to complain about and will probably never complain about this show or the decisions the writers made.

anyway, since this was the last season and i’m getting sunbear into this series as we speak, i’ll leave the rest of the recap to be read after the jump. there will be spoilers, so don’t read it if you don’t want.

my girl kathy iandoli, who used to be my editor over at allhiphop.com (shivers) got the chance to hear cudi’s album. looks like there won’t be push-backs since things like this will start popping up. by the way, i’m totally jealous that you got to hear it, kathy.

she’s written a lengthy preview of the album in a track-by-track fashion. if it weren’t for reading this piece, i’d still be completely indifferent to the fact that this album was being released. hearing everything about the album was pretty much all i needed to get stoked again.
