video: panic at the disco + fun. – c’mon [live in atlanta] (2011)

31 05 2011

hopefully catching this tour when it comes to houston (don’t you even dare judge me) and i’m definitely looking forward to the two bands’ collaborative effort being performed. funeral party and foxy shazam are pretty great openers too right? anyway, this is the first time the bands performed this song. more to come, hopefully.

video: pusha t – alone in vegas [teaser] (2011)

31 05 2011

easily one of the best and my personal favorites off of the fear of god. not big on teasers, but you get a really gentlemanly preview of the visual that’s coming soon. yucgh.

31 05 2011

a four-act musical portraying theclassic story of boy-meets-girl, boy and girl make dumb life-decissions, created by the hardcore punk band fucked up? yes, please.

long gestating within the band, david comes to life is the culmination of what fucked up believes to be their best work. says frontman damian abraham: “”second to the birth of my child, this record is the most important delivery I’ve ever made.”

video: cults – the curse [live for bowlegs] (2011)

31 05 2011

next week sees the release of cults’ debut lp cults, but before that drops, you can watch a neat video session that the band did with music blog bowlegs, where they perform the bonus song “the curse” in an english coffee shop (though i see no coffee nor barista anywhere).

video: wale – the cloud (2011)

31 05 2011

even though folarin’s been all up on the MMG jock as of late, it’s good to see him branching back out to his older material. his latest visual finds us soaked in weed-smoke for his vibey anthem from more about nothing. word on the street is, his new album will be out later out this year.

killa kyleon – make me [f. jack freeman] (2011)

31 05 2011

houston’s own all over this shit. killa kyleon drops a new track produced by the bizness, with hook and bridge duties from jack freeman, who in smoothest of fashions, does his thing. for those of you who might’ve missed it, go grab jack freeman’s (he’s the guy on a few niceguys songs, and what not) most recent ep, dark liquor, which can be downloaded for free.

the NBA finals (2011)

30 05 2011

Well, well, well. We have finally reached The NBA Finals, and we have ourselves a rematch from 2006. There are a few players that have remained from those squads, but the dynamic of each team has changed. In what looks to be a great matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and the Miami Heat.

Now, there are going to be those who absolutely hate Miami or love them. There is really no middle, but I will attempt to find that middle ground.

Hit the jump for the analysis (because it is the Finals, I provided a more in-depth analysis)

Thanks

-the title of the album is how do you do, and “a long time” is the first single.

video: taking back sunday – best places to be a mom [acoustic] (2011)

29 05 2011

new album’s dropping june 28th, which i just found out now. really looking forward to seeing what this new old band works with this time around. hoping for it to being like ‘new again’ and all the old time fans say it’s awesome. that way, i can say ‘i told you so.’

j. cole – how high (2011)

29 05 2011

not a ‘new’ song, as far as albums are concerned. however, this is a song due off of some ‘street mixtape’ that’s a collaborative, but unofficial effort from drake and cole. regardless, smooth track of normal j. cole caliber.

read: the 100 best nas songs (2011)

28 05 2011

in honor of nas’ naming his upcoming tenth studio album (life is good), the fine folks at complex have preludes such an announcement with a gigantic feature – the 100 best nas songs. quite the undertaking, to say the least.

head over to the house of ecko to check out the goods. fair warning: i’d definitely bookmark it, as per usual complex fuckery, it’s a one song-per-click type situation. it’s gonna be a while before you finish it.

r.i.p.: gil scott-heron (1949-2011)

28 05 2011

one of many, many generations greatest artists and poets passed away yesterday as a result of falling ill after a recent trip to europe. other than that, very little is known about the cause of death, but he is survived by his wife and daughter. he’s influenced many of the artists you listen to today and has put out decades of thought-provoking and culture-challenging spoken word poetry, blues and much more.

in honor of gil, pull our your copy of pieces of a man, it’s your world or i’m new here (personal favorites) and tribute to one of the greats.

mixtape: young jeezy – the real is back (2011)

28 05 2011

i guess this is our official ‘whif’ of TM103. it’s supposedly done, so my obvious inference is that these tracks (a whole bunch of em, at that) are the songs that didn’t quite make the cut for whatever reason. doesn’t say much about the caliber about these songs, but i’m sure there are a few gems on here. neat features, too – which you can see below the jump.

video: cee-lo green – i want you [hold on to love] (2011)

28 05 2011

i’m not exactly sure why they used an alternate version of the song for the video. to be honest, i didn’t watch more than 30 seconds of this shit because of how disappointed i am with the song choice. the original version was close to being my favorite song of 2010, and i just don’t want to ruin that luster.

video: death cab for cutie – the new year [vh1 storytellers] (2011)

28 05 2011

death cab for cutie had their own special on vh1 storytellers last night, and i’m sure the whole thing will be surfacing soon enough. in the meantime, watch the performance of their transatlanticism leadoff track.

video: 50/50 [trailer] (2011)

28 05 2011

just caught this online, and i can’t act like i’m not interested in seeing this. sure, it’s a lot like funny people and any other ‘straight faced,’ dark comedy, but my man crush on joseph gordon levitt definitely edges this one out a little bit. not to mention anna kendrick and seth rogen kick the appeal up a few notches as well.

no release date yet, but a ‘coming soon.’

video: crosby, nash, and fallon – party in the usa [miley cyrus cover, live on fallon] (2011)

27 05 2011

jimmy’s neil young impression is, aside from hilarious, pretty spot on. so it makes total sense that graham nash and david crosby would swing by to support jimmy as he wails away his rendition of the miley cyrus club classic “party in the usa.” nash sure seems to be into it, huh?

video: justice – civilization (2011)

27 05 2011

so glad to have these guys back, even though there’s no formal announcement of an album or even an album title, this parisian duo shall soon be lighting up your nearest hipster dj sets across town. and i got no problem with that.

video: big sean – my last [live on kimmel] (2011)

27 05 2011

this song’s really hollow without the presence of chris brown. the live band was an added touch, but sean isn’t the one to thrive on the performance and make it is. regardless, good on him for having his first TV appearance. finally famous drops june 28th.

-grizzly

video: the niceguys – james kelley groovin’ (2011)

26 05 2011

is this an official nice shorts addition? who cares, really. it’s hilarious. the james kelley ep…coming soon.

video: kendrick lamar – hiiipower (2011)

26 05 2011

the section80 cut produced by j. cole and rapped over by the young gun finally sees a music video. the clip’s jampacked with conscious and political messages that are appropriate for the clip.

and this is probably the best song lamar has set to wax.

video: abed/danny pudi on cougar town (2011)

26 05 2011

if yall are fans of community, all of this will make complete sense. from abed’s long winded monologue about the mysteries and fantasies of wanting to be an extra on cougar town comes this awesome gem.

i already miss the damn show and it just ended last week.

video: city and colour – fragile bird (2011)

26 05 2011

saw the very fun behind the scenes a week or so back, now we have the official video. i love the use of instrumentation…but mainly, i love the use of sluts. much music (seriously) has the exclusive stream and a lack of embeds, so head over to that canadian shit and catch the video. little hell drops june 7th.
