introducing: tayyib ali – do it (2011)

this post is a product of many things. i’ve seen this video floating around on a few of the blogs i read. i’ve also seen it online in a message board i frequent. weworemasks also got the tip in a promotional e-mail. after all the ignoring, it seems like i kept running across the name that reminded me of brother ali and talib kweli. either way, he sounds like neither artist; this philly, PA young gun (18 years old to be exact.) has a sound of his own, backed by a fantastic soul-samplin beat that boasts a very introductory “i’m a high school dropout, hard with the flow.” indeed, man.

i’m looking forward to checking out more of young tayyib, and plan to check out his mixtape from last year, keystone state of mind.
