watch: rungs in a ladder: jacob bannon of converge.

in this beautifully shot mini-documentary, we get an introspective look at jacob bannon, frontman of the legendary converge. rungs in the ladder is described as “the latest in an ongoing series of documentaries by mcfarland and pecci profiling people carving a meaningful existence for themselves on the fringes of society”. bannon couldn’t be a more fitting profile and this video is an inspiring must-watch for any music fan (or fan of any creative art form for that matter).

the mountain goats’ john darnielle is one fascinating guy. and a chatty one too, which is what makes his interview with stereogum, which ranges from writing songs in hotel rooms to the art of setlist creation with a back catalogue of a bazillion songs, such an enticing read. set aside 30 minutes and check it out at the link below.

interview: thrice (october 5, 2011)

all photo credits: weworemasks

So at this point, this is the third (heh) Thrice interview to date for weworemasks, and it was just as fun as the first two times. I’ve never been shy about how much I like this band, so it was cool to get the chance to sit down with the bassist, Eddie Breckenridge, to talk all things tour, Major/Minor and what album he’d be interested in playing in full for an anniversary if the opportunity came up.

And I know it’s a bit dated, but the tour’s just starting and I got around to transcribing the interview today. Hit the jump and pass it along!

weworemasks.com interview: moving mountains (2011)

The main band I was bummed to miss at Warped Tour was Moving Mountains, especially considering that they don’t come around Houston, TX too often. My homie Nathan Eguia was on hand in my place to interview Greg Dunn about life after releasing an album on a record label and typical Warped Tour hijinks.

Not too lengthy either! Waves is in stores now, and all of you should buy it.

weworemasks.com interview: fun. (2011)

all photo credits: weworemasks

I’ve just been a huge fan of all things related to Nate Reuss since the latter part of the 2000s. That being said, it was quite awesome being able to speak with one of the more earnest singers/songwriters that I’ve listened to over the span of 3 albums and 2 bands.

fun. recently stopped by Houston, TX on their tour with Panic! at the Disco and I had the chance to speak on the phone with Nate prior to their show that evening, where we discussed future plans with the band that included as much as we could get about the new album, touring plans and hey – hip-hop.

Hit the jump for the interview.
