on august 20th, julia holter, who only last year released the sublime ekstasis, will release loud city songs, an album that explores her hometown of los angeles its relation to modern life. up above, watch the super 8-compiled footage of the opening track “world.”
after a whole lot of pusha t, his seemingly forgotten brother will kinda snake his way into july with a release of his mixtape, hear ye him, set for july 2nd, a couple weeks before the younger brother in push drops on july 16th.
born sinner is one of the summer’s most anticipated rap efforts – and keeping that in mind, we’ll be seeing it a week early. due to cole’s undying fandom of sir yeezus west, he’s moving his release date up, so as to share a date. not the best move as far as sales go, but i highly doubt that he thought he would stand a chance.
the artwork is great and simple, but the same can’t be said for the deluxe edition, which is ILLUMINATI AND J. COLE LIKES THE DEVIL LOL
jk, both are great.

justin timberlake’s takeover of 2013 was unsolicited, but more than welcome around these parts. so when questlove stirred up rumors of a second album being released in the year, most folks (including myself) were weary that we’d actually see a sequel in 2013. but sure enough, timberlake took to his official facebook page to drop the news via an image.
so there you have it. the sequel to the 20/20 experience will be out on september 30th.
to add to the already jam-packed summer, the lonely island will be releasing a new album, titled the wack album, on june 11th. the kendrick lamar-assisted “yolo” will be making an appearance, and the trio announced it all on last night’s SNL.
#Old coming soon ... Featuring Freddie Gibbs, ScHoolboy Q, Mr MFN Exquire, Scrufizzer, A$AP Rocky, Ab-Soul, Charli XCX and Purity Ring
Production by Paul White, OhNo, Rustie, Skywlkr, Atrak, Darq E Freaker and Frank Dukes
after danny brown has caught his fair share of heat over a certain on-stage act, he’s now moving onto what’s important – which is his new album, ‘old.’
looks good from here!
aside from a medley performance of “i don’t like,” “new god flow” and “numbers on the board,” pusha t dropped by 106 and park to make a few announcements:
- the video for “numbers on the board” drops next week – filmed in paris
- my name is my name will be out july 16th. yucgh.
and while there isn’t any official confirmation of this, peter rosenberg wasted no time on the radio in talking about the fact that he “heard” a def jam exec talk about a hosted listening party for the new finished album, and things went very well. the album is dark (expected) and as ambitious as he’s ever been (expected).
no word on whether he’s performing a new song on SNL (expected) or a medley of hits (also expected). but this will probably be an AOTY contender (expected).
i’m gonna need this like..yesterday. after an incredible outing in empty days and sleepless nights, boston’s defeater is done with their new LP. no word on when it’ll be released, but it’s safe to say some time this year.
atmospheric brit-rockers (whatever, i hate genre tagging) the 1975 have seen a pretty nice bit of hype after releasing a couple of EPs. now, the band is ready to release their debut LP, and a self-titled one at that. september 9th is the release date according to a tweet of theirs, and they have a slew of european tour dates to match. hit the jump for those, and preorder here.
