hey lookit – the promise ring are back! and wouldn’t you know it, they’re covering adele’s percussive smash “rumor has it” for a.v. club’s undercover, and surprisingly staying very faithful to the original, if adele could scream her guts out that is. watch the performance above.
NPR has been on quite the roll for the last few days. the latest for the half-hour special is the usa’s top selling act, ms. adele. old and new songs unite in this session.
adele – live on npr world cafe
another clip from ms. adele’s upcoming DVD release, live from royal albert hall, dropping next tuesday. complex with the stream, so head over there.
adele – turning tables [live from royal albert hall]
so ms. adele has that whole “live from albert hall” dvd dropping in less than a week, and NPR has the ‘first watch’ feature – taken directly from the middle of the set comes adele’s stunning performance of “make you feel my love.”
adele – make you feel my love [live from albert hall]
even though i could go my entire life without ever hearing “rolling in the deep” or “someone like you” ever again, that doesn’t negate the fact that she’s an incredible performer. also, due to her repeat offenses of having to cancel her tour dates for voice issues, she’s decided to put together this live package of her performance from london’s royal albert hall, which drops november 29th.
preorder information can be found here and the tracklisting can be found below the jump.
if there’s something we love here at weworemasks, it’s a music video comprised of a single, continuous shot. even more so when it features the lady adele. watch adele walk the somber streets of paris in a zippy-chic coat in her new video for “someone like you” from her superb album 21.
so tonight was the VMAs, and i bypassed watching for personal plans and of course, breaking bad. here’s a quick rundown of anything interesting that happened as the reruns play:
-lady gaga is a fucking moron. i’m not gonna act like i don’t appreciate her music (save for born this way – the album blows), but as gawker so eloquently put it, she jumped the shark tonight. i actually MISS the meat dress.
-what the hell crawled up justin bieber’s ass? too cool to cheer for the throne, gaga (her performance was pretty good), adele and others – but he didn’t hesitate to yell “that’s my boy!!!!” after chris brown played? also, you definitely borrowed that outfit from your “runaway love” remix collaborator.
-beyonce announced she was pregnant in the absolute most endearing way. i’m no softie, but i was super stoked on kanye and jay buddying it up when she announced it to everyone. i mean, just look at the gifs!
-adele had an amazing performance. (below the jump)
-wayne’s performance was pretty bad. (up top)
-nicki minaj won best hip-hop over eminem, kanye and wayne. the hell?
-mtv is still kissing britney spears’ ass.
-kevin hart is still terribly unfunny.
-hit the jump for performances from adele, beyonce, gaga, bruno mars (amy winehouse tribute) and chris brown.
ok, i swear. this will be the last time i ever post anything to do with this song, and the only reason is because dean (the man behind this project) is a swell mate of ours. he took the time to put his hourglass sea touches on adele’s monster hit that we’ve all heard enough of. however, just listen to it ONE MORE TIME.
no daft punk.
adele – rolling in the deep [hourglass sea remix]
i’m fucking sick of this song. but here’s a performance of it from dancing with the stars.
this is a thing of beauty, yall.
what’s with all the adele sampling/covering lately? i’m not mad, it just seems out of nowhere. in the latest nod to the british songstress, tyga flips a line from “someone like you” for a downtrodden number about an ex-flame. this is due to be released on black thoughts 2, which is dropping sometime this summer, i believe.
tyga – reminded
hell. yes. john legend gives adele a run for her money on her 21 single. not by any means better, but c’mon, it’s mr. legend.
john legend – rolling in the deep [adele cover] (2011)
this woman is incredible. both performances are of the toppest of notches. “someone like you” on ellen is up top, “rolling in the deep” on kimmel’s show is below the jump. 21 is in stores now and should be copped ASAP.
adele’s been killin’ me softly with 21. i literally haven’t put it down since it dropped. she stopped by letterman to drop jaws and shit of that nature, while performing her lead single from the new album, which is in stores today.
i seriously cannot stop listening to 21 for the last two weeks. her unplugged sessions drops on march 3rd, and it promises to deliver, as expected. the released clip is a cover of aretha franklin’s classic. hit the jump to see a video of her performing “someone like you” live at largo.
