lupe fiasco – airplanes [original version] (2011)

so remember when the word was going around that lupe had both “nothing on you” and “airplanes” and passed em down to b.o.b.? well, we now have a CDQ version of the latter. i might be biased, but i feel like lu should kept this for himself. i could definitely see this album on lasers. even though i initially liked bobby’s version (before hearing it ad nauseum), i feel like this is a lot less “oh my god fame is le suxxxx” and a lot more along the lines of what i like.

slick looking clip from bobby ray and hayley williams. i’m wondering if they shot videos for this version and part two with eminem, since i’ve only actually heard part two blowing up on radio. also, notice the reference at the :44 second mark.

grizzly edit: apparently, this dude’s management is being a trick and made it impossible to watch a music video for free. premiering it on itunes…y’all serious? that’s pathetic business.

wwm darlings local natives make their late night television debut with a stop at the late late show with craig ferguson. easily one of the better sounding late night tv performances i’ve ever seen. most bands sound like shit. leave it to these boys to show ‘em how it’s done, beautifully at that.

the wwm vs. sxsw video invasion continues, better late than never, with this installment featuring los angeles natives, local natives. filmed at stubb’s indoor stage during the the rachael ray day party, the local natives played to a packed house and more than won over a whole slew of new fans as well as made the wwm bears very happy, not that the free food and drinks weren’t doing their part. easily one of the most impressive sets we’d see all sxsw.

b.o.b. – airplanes pt. II [f. eminem and hayley williams] + fame (2010)

b.o.b. knew what he was doing here. having eminem on the last track of your album with the last verse is probably not a smart decision when it comes to what you want people to remember your album for (wale did it with j. cole on AD), but then again, this song is fucking huge. hayley’s hook remains intact, bobby has two new verses and eminem rips this shit to pieces.

this record has about three songs left that haven’t leaked yet (i’ve added the jim jonsin-produced, knux-assisted ‘fame’ to this post. ed note: the first underwhelming song i’ve heard from this effort). this is really all you should be paying attention to right now.

bobby ray and hayley williams (of paramore fame) hook up for one of the more anticipated tracks and next single off of bobby’s upcoming the adventures of bobby ray. even more anticipated though, is part two of the track, which features williams and eminem. while we wait for that, hot damn. this one is fire. well done as the hook-woman, ms. williams.

speaking of local natives, the california boys have dropped the video for “airplanes”, the second single from gorilla manor. i’m starting to see their name a lot more on the indie blogs. late pass, suckers (but good looks on posting about a quality band). gorilla manor drops stateside february 16th.
