HOLY SWEET BABY NEWBORN JESUS. chuck and brian doing “great expectations” in that good ol’ revival tour fashion. and for a bonus point, they hit alkaline trio’s “warbrain” in the bridge.

alkaline trio’s official foray into an acoustic album has been put up by AOL music for the masses to enjoy before it hits retail tomorrow. if you were ever a fan of this band, i highly suggest listening to some of these – it was definitely interesting to see they’ve kept the tempo the same on a lot of these – essentially just putting many of these songs to the test of layering and structing. i’ve been listening to this record repeatedly over the last few days, and i’m excited to go cop it tomorrow.

chicago music icon jerry bryant and awesome his jbtv program have against me! on board for an acoustic performance as well as chicago native lawrence arms frontman brendan kelly interviewing the boys about their recently released white crosses.
you want more? how about an alkaline trio interview discussing sports and touring from warped tour 2010 and a throwback video of jerry sitting down with joey ramone? nice, huh?
white crosses and this addiction are both out now.

the last time alkaline trio headlined a set in houston in october of 2008 had completely different circumstances. rise against canceled, so alkaline trio had to step up in typical “the show must go on!” fashion and play a short stint of headline sets. this time around, they’ve had minor major label success, a charting album in this addiction and fellow lushes cursive along for the ride for their own headlining tour. what’s come to be expected by any trio set these days is a fair share of cult classics and new songs, distributed evenly amongst an hour and a half set. having cursive on the tour was a huge bonus for myself, personally.
anyway, read on.

decent performance, i’d say. skiba’s voice sounds a little shot, but derek grant absolutely kilt it. even letterman noticed. however, alk3 will never step out of the shadow that was this late night performance anyway – easily one of my favorites.
alkaline trio/cursive tour hits houston at the end of this month. we’re all peeing in excitement.

alkaline trio have been one of my favorite bands for the past decade, and this album is just another notch in their impressive bedpost in my music catalog. crimson was highly underwhelming, but i’ll blame that on the band being way too drunk to perform. in any case, the last two have been played heavily, with this addiction catching a spin every couple of days. the band is going on tour with cursive and hitting houston in late march, so the bears are giddy about that tour.
in any case, they have the entire album streaming on myspace, so get your 96kbps on and stream the hell out of it.

yesssss. alkaline trio is back, and just as good as ever. here they are with their first single off of their first record on epitaph. the title track gets the pretty standard performance video treatment, but i’m on board. i’ve enjoyed close to everything this band has ever done, and the new record is no different.
this addiction is in stores on february 23rd. be sure to check out all of the tour dates with cursive here.
