listen: frank ocean – pink matter [feat. big boi & andre 3000]

right in time for the weekend, big boi lets rap radar premiere his remix to frank ocean and andre 3000’s channel orange collaboration, bringing outkast together on wax for the first time in a long time. i believe the last one was lookin’ for ya, correct? either way, enjoy!

stream: t.i. – sorry [feat. andre 3000] (2012)

you know, i can’t even be mad at t.i. he’s been coasting through his raps since before no mercy, phoning in damn near every track. but if having andre 3000 on a track is what it took to bring out the best in him, then so be it. and don’t be misled – andre 3000 only fuels the fire around his frantic fanbase, providing another verse for the books.

now the question is, is his verse on “sixteen” or this one on “sorry” the better verse? andre 3000 problems, you know.

video: b.o.b. – play the guitar [f. andre 3000] (2012)

everything looks like a lite brite here, which is ok, because it’s probably really hard to get andre 3000 in the flesh for your video shoot. b.o.b.’s latest single in “play the guitar” employs the artist he was always aspiring to be but will probably never get to be. cool ass video, though.

strange clouds is out now.

read: andre 3000 – fader mag interview (2012)

a few weeks ago in an interview with GQ, andre benjamin all but shut out the possibility of a new outkast album THIS YEAR, but apparently, that meant the internet thought outkast was done with for good. sure enough, FADER got the scoop and had him clarify the haps.

“We’re not on the roster or on a schedule with a label to put out an Outkast album. I can’t say if or when we will, but I’m going to be in Outkast forever in some kind of way. I can’t really say Outkast is over so it always trips me out when these things get on the internet.”

video: gorillaz – doyathing [ft. james murphy + andre 3000] (2012)

new visuals for the converse collaborative dream team of gorillaz, james murphy, and andre 3000 (the latter making quite a few cameos in the clip), featuring the members of the virtual band going about their morning rituals in their shameless-esque british flat. 2d is abused by murdoc, who refuses to amble down their three flights of stairs, noodle oversleeps and looks cute doing so, and russel’s behemoth anchoring the floating island. check it aout at the link below.

the gorillaz – do ya thing [f. james murphy & andre 3000] (2012)

3 of the more mysterious figures in music collaborating on a track for converse? seems pretty weird, right? the gorillaz bring both james murphy out of “retirement” and andre 3000 from hiding for this glitchy little track. oh and andre’s verse? ridiculous.

video: kesha – sleazy remix [f. wiz khalifa, andre 3000, t.i. & lil wayne] (2012)

[vodpod id=Video.16014058&w=425&h=350&fv=%26rel%3D0%26border%3D0%26]

while there are some decent verses and pedro mouthing 3k’s verse is funny, this video is one of the worst visual experiences i’ve ever had. hate u kesha. i hate u.

stream: b.o.b. – play the guitar [f. andre 3000] (2011)

[vodpod id=Video.15871711&w=425&h=350&fv=%26rel%3D0%26border%3D0%26]

and the collaboration that has made sense on paper since bobby ray hit the scene is finally out, and is quite excellent. 3k goes off for a minute and b.o.b. brings his A game to the track, which was probably a prerequisite in the first place. strange clouds is out sometime in the first quarter of 2012.

young jeezy – i do [f. jay-z and andre 3000] (2011)

and the song everyone was waiting for from tm103 leaks to the web. production is fantastic, jay and andre’s verses aren’t phoned in or “deuces remix” caliber (respectively), but this hook only reminds me of this.

and glad to see andre resurfacing a few times recently, but…no outkast no care.

video: lil wayne – intro/interlude/outro (2011)

the folks at XXL decided to make a video in the name of halloween for what is arguably the best three songs on the carter IV. the saddest thing is that wayne has one out of eight verses here, and his is easily the least good.

great video clip though.

video: lloyd – dedication to my ex (2011)

[vodpod id=Video.15400516&w=425&h=350&fv=%26rel%3D0%26border%3D0%26]

this is probably the best song lloyd’s ever put to wax, and i think the video has a strangely familiar raphael saadiq feel to it. and when is it ever a bad thing when wayne brady shows up? don’t worry though, this video goes south real quick when a cat raps andre 3000’s part. that’s right, a cat.

lil wayne – tha carter IV interlude mix (2011)

you know that time when you were listening to the carter IV, and thought to yourself — “it’d be really awesome to get this tech n9ne verse, that nas verse, the bun b verse AND the andre 3000 verse all in one place!” well, the internet listens. it takes all of the features (including wayne’s intro) from the interlude and outro to make a monster cypher-like track for all to enjoy.
