blu, keep doin’ your thing — as long as it’s over some soulful ass shit by madlib, exile, etc. great video by aaron is not cool.

this isn’t a typo, folks. blu & exile were hoarding an entire fucking album of collaboration FOR YEARS, as these songs date back to 2009, a mere two years after below the heavens dropped. funny thing is, dropping this in 2009 would’ve caused a ruckus in the hip-hop blogosphere, but it’s in perfect blu fashion to release it when no one’s expecting. while you can stream the entire album for free via bandcamp, you can purchase the release for $15. i’m very excited to sit down with this, as they’re one of the most underrated and elusive duo’s hip-hop’s ever seen.

blu is back at it; this time hoarding an entire album filled with beats by madlib. you might recognize this one, as it’s the “fix up” beat that black star recently came back to.

cool feature via emtheories.com. and you know i really only care about the blu aspect of all this.

exile’s 4trkmind is in stores now, and finds the revered producer stepping behind the mic. here’s an obvious highlight on the album, reuniting the below the heavens crew for a soulful cut.

uh, this is a monstrous collection. four discs of pure, unadulterated blu guest verses. i have no clue how and to what capacity of effort this took, but alas, the website name speaks for itself. thanks to real hip hop head for all the work.

a lot of blu surfacing as of late, and i don’t have any problems with that. this isn’t technically new, but blu will be taking instrumentals from his open LP (look it up), remastering em and putting vocals to the wax as well. the release is coming september 27th (what ISN’T dropping on that day?!) and you can find the details, written in blu, below the jump. note: blu probably won’t be on these songs.

that’s right folks. THE no york! has surfaced, and it’s because blu was passing copies of the record out at his most recent rock the bells show. soul culture has a youtube channel with the entire thing streaming, as well as a download link. if i were you, i’d hurry up and grab them from them. i won’t personally be posting it, as i’m not sure what the legality is here. i’ll let those boys handle it. tracklisting below the jump.
VERY EXCITED AND CAN HARDLY CONTAIN MYSELF!

blu’s first single from no york! hits the internet, in the form of a beautiful music video. no york! is hopefully dropping sooner than later, as i’m sure many of you assholes, myself included, are waiting on this.

with the digital release (in high quality, nonetheless) of jesus hitting itunes today, here’s another sampler from the newly released gem.

looks like we’ve got some movement out of blu’s camp. well, kind of. blu will be dropping his recently released jesus project on CD and vinyl on august 30th, under the name “B” (legal reasons). up first is the CDQ of “lucky”.

naturally, blu drops a random lo-fi album out of nowhere titled jesus. i’m not mad at all though, as the project features production from madlib, 9th wonder, the alchemist and himself. very, very excited for this. it’s free, but you know, blu’s gotta eat – buy it if you love it.

the always straight forward blu links up with who he feels is the best of the best when it comes to the new school west coast (where’s fashawn?) for a song due off of his upcoming noyork LP. j davey, u-n-i, pac div, tiron and ayomari all show up here.

in typical blu fashion, an obscure tumblr has surfaced. on it, there’s an individual (and quite difficult to make sense of, honestly) post for each of the supposed songs on the noyork! LP thats pending release sometime this year. check an example:
o1_doin nothin feat u god
it was like being in the studio w a real life leopard baby paw.
so definitely take it for what it’s worth, but don’t hesitate to get excited.

this is probably the most you’ll ever find out about or from blu in one sitting. in the explanation, blu talks about noyork and why the title is what it is and the significance to the title. pretty great stuff, and the video’s not too bad either. noyork is dropping sometime this year…apparently.
below the jump, you can find the tracklisting and artwork for the official release of her favorite colour. the album is being remastered (thank god) and seeing a digital release on april 19th.

first off, props to hardknocktv for getting straight answers out of blu. if it wasn’t them, then props to blu for staying sober? i kid i kid. but seriously, according to this clip, no york!, a mixtape and an EP are in the works, due to the large amount of output the studio sessions have given blu. no problems with that here.
he talks about the album and some of the features, with cameos from bilal, sa-ra and j-davey, as well as production credits from exile, madlib and fly lo. this is sounding like it’s gonna be an incredible album, to say the least. oh, and he mentioned there is a new blu & exile album coming out afterwards, but i wouldn’t hold my breath.

a short number, but a new one off the new amnesia EP that i can’t find anywhere. blu’s so hard to be a fan of.

so before blu decides drop (see: scrap, forget about, get high instead of recording) noyork!, he’s going to be giving the fans a 7-song EP on february 15th, which according to him is “just in time for valentines day.” i’ve expressed my frustration with this incredibly aloof and nonchalant emcee before, so let me just say that february 15th is the day after valentines day, my man. anyway, here’s the tracklisting…so funny.
tracklisting:
Side A
1. Amnesia(Original)
2. Amnesia(Instrumental)
3. Amnesia(Remind)
4. Amnesia(Rewind Instrumental)
Side B
1. Since(Original)
2. Since(Instrumental)
3. GoodMorning
gotta love him. at least the artwork is incredible.

blu’s been working on a new record with exile (is it too early to call AOTY?) and performed a new song in portland, live band in tow. this just makes me upset that he was too lazy or high on DMT to bring his band to boston, but whatevs. also, as an added bonus, throwing up a new song that dropped today.
EDIT: video embed is being a stupid b. watch it here.
