mixtape: b.o.b. – …presents the features (2009)

the [two] dope boyz put together another solid b.o.b. compilation. in case you missed it, they dropped should have been the first album not too long ago, and it apparently lit the firecracker under atlantic’s ass to get the ball rollin’ on the adventures of b.o.b. definitely a good look. also, b.o.b. vs. bobby ray was by far one of my favorite mixtapes of the year, so i’m excited to see where he’s headed.

this is a dope little compilation of his features and songs of his that had some nice (or not so nice) features. hit the jump for the tracklisting.

mickey factz x b.o.b. – mind blowin’ (2009)

two of the best (and my favorite) freshman team up for a song on the upcoming soundtrack for nba 2k10. this song is definitely a good look for both of these guys. consistent and constantly making great music. need their debuts ASAP. 6th sense on the production. oh yeah, and the file is named “blow your mind” because i messed up and was too lazy to re-upload it.

b.o.b. – should have been the first album (2009)

2dopeboyz.com put together this sweet little [tagless] compilation album for those of you who haven’t familiarized yourself with b.o.b./bobby ray. i mean, if you’ve been reading this blog, you know that all three of the bears couldn’t give this man more of a co-sign. anyway, this is a collection of some of his earlier music that you may not have heard/may have gotten lost or buried under his mixtapes, aptly titled should have been the first album.

atlantic records are pretty much retards for not putting more effort into one of the best new artists and easily the best of the xxl freshman (yeah, i said it.)

tracklisting’s after the jump.

video: b.o.b. – i am the man f. bun b live in houston (2009)

last night was houston’s stop at the great hangover tour, where bun b got on stage to wreck “i am the man” with bobby. bobby’s manager threw this video up before i even got home, so props on that. this song is so so so so so so so (can’t stress enough) much better without oj the god forsaken juiceman.

anyway, the recap’s coming soon (about to work on it now) but this video deserves its own post.

don’t forget to grab b.o.b. vs bobby ray – easily one of the best tapes that’s dropped this year.

video: b.o.b. – live at the b.o.b. vs. bobby ray album release party (2009)

here’s a video of bobby ray performing a song off of the new mixtape. i don’t know the song titles well enough yet, so i couldn’t tell you what song this is. however, nearly the entire mixtape (with the exception of 1 or 2 joints) is a GREAT listen. b.o.b. vs bobby ray is his best work yet, and things are only looking up from here.

don’t forget to grab the mixtape if you haven’t already.

hit the jump for another video. courtesy of kidunot.

mixtape: b.o.b. – b.o.b. vs. bobby ray (2009)

a lot of people have been waiting for this (especially roshan). if for some reason, you haven’t given b.o.b./bobby ray a shot, this is your chance. along with this new mixtape, he dropped the no dj version of who the fuck is b.o.b.?, which i’m including after the cut. great day for b.o.b. fans, and an even better chance to get into a real soulful dude.

b.o.b./bobby ray – mr. bobby (2009)

ok so B.o.B. has officially changed his name to bobby ray. i’m not a fan of the name change at all, considering the answer he gave us in his interview:

B.o.B. stands for — me just blasting outta barriers, putting brains over bullets and battling our brothers. And in the meanwhile, I’m staying in a bubble of bliss, because you know, there’s a lot of hate out there. This is the year of Barack Obama, and everyone is ecstatic over Barack over Bush, and in the meantime I’m just celebrating by burning on blunts. I actually don’t smoke anymore, but it’s mainly just the celebration factor. B.o.B. is many many different acronyms and they’re always changing. They just come to me as I go through life, cause I catch a new meaning. I just add them up in my mental rolodex of B.o.Bs.

anyway, here’s his newest track. the hook (is it a chorus now?) has a reggae tinge to it. it’s entertaining, but it ain’t “i’ll be in the sky.” we’ll see what comes from this. i hope he’s not totally ditching his previous sound, considering it was eclectic enough.

him and kid cudi have been losing it lately. industry must be a bitch.
