watch: easy yves saint – NY2PA

easy yves saint is about to make this summer his own. after releasing two hefty singles, the hard-hitting “juice” and “NY2PA,” his freestyle over bun b’s “get throwed,” he can toss a music video into the mix. shot on location at friend and confidante sean of sole purpose’s houston shop, yves flies through his effortless verses in the company of the folks he knows best, and even has bun b stand by and mean mug a bit so you guys know it’s real. king d and danny ocean of evesborough films did all the camera work, and you should already know that it’s quality.

clockwork is out this summer.

listen: beyonce – i been on [houston remix; feat. z-ro, bun b, willie d, scarface, lil keke and slim thug]

as if beyonce’s two snippets in “bow down” weren’t #FLEXIN’ on all of rap music, she fucked around and got a remix for the ages. putting all of houston on the map was a priority here, enlisting some of our city’s finest hip-hop royalty from years and generation’s past.

being from this city, trying to wipe this shit-eating grin off my face after i listened to this track was impossible.

listen: big k.r.i.t. – shine on [feat. bun b]

it’s so good to see these two on a track (again). so krit’s currently planning to release a new project by name of king remembered in time, of which “shine on” is the leadoff hitter. great timing too, considering krit’s “reign on” is currently ruling your crown royal commercials. and hey, uncle bun does his thing too.

video: trae the truth – i’m from texas [f. bun b, slim thug, paul wall, more] (2012)

trae the truth does houston a big ol’ solid and throws everyone who means something (except kirko, sans scarface) in the houston rap explosion onto a track together. “i’m from texas” is loud and proud, and we now have a music video.

all credits on the track: trae, bun b, slim thug, paul wall, kirko bangz & z-ro.

can big k.r.i.t. be having a better year? now he’s finding himself upon the likes of “southern royalty,” straight onto a new single for big boi’s pending vicious lies LP. gossip grabs a pimp c verse from the archive and is rounded out by uncle bun and a solid showing from krit.

video: killer mike – big beast [f. bun b, t.i. & el-p] (2012)

been hearing a lot of great things about killer mike’s new record with el-p, r.a.p. music, and for those not in the loop like myself, this is a great place to start. a video run by DRIVE references, violence, sleigh bells samples and appearances from t.i. and uncle bun. definitely NSFW.

fat tony – bad habits [f. bun b and nick diamonds] + young one records (2012)

my man fat tony is doing big things. after having relocated to the los angeles area by way of houston, he buckled down to work on a few projects. the first of which is his sophomore album, and the second – a joint album with producer tom cruz called double dragon. double dragon is a mixtape that’ll drop on the just announced young one records, home to acts like mr. muthafuckin exquire, main attraktionz and fat tony himself.

the first single from double dragon comes in the form of a downtrodden, cruz-produced, bun b and nick diamonds (of islands)-assisted lead single in “bad habits.” another single from the record can be found on the young one’s seven song mixtape, which serves as an introduction to the label.

show recap: A$AP rocky (february 26, 2012)

A$AP’s blown up quite a bit, hasn’t he? From being somewhat of an underdog at last year’s CMJ Festival to opening up for Drake on the Club Paradise tour to headlining the Ballroom at Warehouse Live, his career’s been fast-tracked, to say the least. Expectations were high, the show was sold out, and the rumors were buzzing.

Hit the jump for the recap.

slim thug, bun b & paul wall – u of h fight (2011)

granted, the conference usa is no SEC or big 10, but we’re proud of our cougars here in houston. as a graduate from the university, going 12-0 is an incredible feat in ANY conference, and hopefully this weekend’s game against southern miss (one i’ll be attending and drunk at) lands us a bid in the sugar bowl.

thank you slim thug, paul wall and bun b for being a part of this and of course – GO COOGS/COOG’S HOUSE.

but more importantly: THANK YOU CASE(D) GOD.

the niceguys – ari gold [remix; f. bun b] (2011)

it doesn’t seem like the niceguys half ass anything, huh? the average remix would re-use the same beat, maybe even the same verses and just tack on the feature like it wasn’t that pivotal of a moment in music. but yves and producer free took things to the next level. new beats, new rhymes and a lyrical showdown between one of houston’s finest and bun b. just kidding on that last one…but seriously. you’d be surprised as to how well yves stacks up.

props to brando on the premiere, download below. don’t forget, the group is still working on james kelly…the album, which is dropping one of these days.
