more chairlift, you say? well sure! after releasing a triumphant, first album as a duo earlier this year, chairlift are streaming the demo versions of a handful of something tracks for your listening and completion-minded pleasure. have a go at it below.
at pitchfork’s recent cmj event at moma ps1, chairlift performed a set with the aid of a dome-projected light show. watch the mesmerizing performance of “wrong opinion” above, as part of pitchfork’s +1 series.
the san miguel primavera sound festival went down this past week in barcelona. pitchfork assembled this great segment featuring m83, chairlift, and the rapture all in one tidy, neat video. check it out above.
the second video chairlift have released for their song of longing “met before,” this version takes the low-tech approach as all instrumentation is done away with save for patrick wimberly’s rumbly bass, ringing throughout an empty auditorium. caroline polachek and a bevy of backup singers post up in the adjacent hallway adding their layered harmonies making the song sound as full as the album version. check it out above.
if you’re anything like me, you’re going to play out every possible ending in chairlift’s “choose-your-own-adventure”-style interactive-video for “met before.” if you’re anything like me, you’ll also somehow get eaten up by alligators at every turn.
so much awesome happening here: we’ve got chairlift in-studio with australia’s triple j radio who, alongside bff kool a.d. of das racist fame, take a stab at beyonce’s “party” from her fantastic album 4. throw in a perfunctory “niggas in paris” riff and we’ve got ourselves a party goin’.
you won’t have to wait for tuesday to hear all of chairlift’s sophomore album something, the band’s first lp as a duo. kcrw has an exclusive stream of the dan carey-produced synth pop amalgamation (la roux, lily allen) and you can check that out at the link below.
giving you just enough time to cozy up to their new album something, due out january 24th, chairlift will be hitting the road in march, starting with a string of shows at sxsw and touring all the way through april. dates for the trek can be viewed after the jump.
chairlift singer and eyebrow boomeranger caroline polachek put together this live video of her band performing something track “sidewalk safari,” complete with swift camera fly-bys and subtitles. you so crafty, caroline.
“sidewalk safari” is the latest single from chairlift’s upcoming sophomore album something, and it’s something of a wonky electro slush-pot of sounds hardly contained by caroline polachek’s familiar voice. pretty far removed from the ipod friendly sounds of “bruises” i’d say.
chairlift are more than one-trick ipod ponies. their gossamer does you inspire you was a terrific album and the band plan to follow it up with a new album later this year. for now, you can check out a new song, the funky “amanaemonesia” on a nifty media player after the jump.
ah chairlift. there’s simply no escaping your infectiousness. from apple ads to their first u.s. televised performance on craig ferguson last night, the band’s song ‘bruises’ is still as sweet as ever. but i think the true star of the night are caroline polachek’s eyebrows. i find something new everyday to fixate on with that wonderful woman.
