watch: coheed and cambria – 97x acoustic session

you ever seen two extremely skilled guitarists play acoustic guitars for songs that don’t really belong in the realm of acoustic music? well, say hello to these performances of “the afterman” and “dark side of me.” these guys played quite a show this past weekend, and i reviewed that if you dig that sorta thing.

show recap: coheed and cambria – the descension tour (march 2, 2013)

Coheed and Cambria has kept busy for the last year. After their 2010 album, Year of the Black Rainbow, was met with lukewarm reviews from their fanbase, it seems like that was just the kick they needed to get things groovin’ again. In 2011, the band’s original drummer, Josh Eppard, left his new band (Terrible Things) and confirmed his reunion with Coheed and Cambria again, putting a heap of excitement back into the camp.

Co&Ca would then go on to release two albums in a year’s time, The Afterman: Ascension and The Afterman: Descension. The two parter brought plenty of fans back on board, myself

included. And I was definitely excited to see what these guys had in store for Houston.

Hit the jump for the review.

conan o brien was the first place coheed and cambria brought their album the afterman: descension to showcase. with their first televised performance of the atmospheric and plenty-layered “dark side of me,” they’re starting things off proper, promotionally speaking. oh and how swt is it to see josh epp behind the kit?!

listen: coheed and cambria – dark side of me [lyric video]

coheed and cambria are now in full throttle descension mode. and for some odd reason, teamcoco has the premiere of their new single, “dark side of me,” which precedes the band’s performance on 1/21, where they’ll premiere this track live. if you’ve heard this song, then it’s probably because you’ve heard the remix by michael einzinger (of incubus fame) – which you can still check that out here. great track either way, though.

the afterman: descension is out feb 5th.

video: coheed and cambria – the hard sell [lyric video] (2012)

with coheed’s latest release the afterman: ascension winning over fans who jumped ship after black rainbow (cough, me), they’re quickly moving towards the descension side of things, with “the hard sell” and its accompanying lyric video to set things off. sure, “sentry the giant” is out there, but this one’s a bit more official.

preorder here.
