news: chevy chase is leaving community (2012)

well, as much as i hate to make note of this news, it seemed pretty inevitable considering how big of an asshole chevy chase was on set to his bosses, etc. he filmed the majority of the season, but one episode is missing — so we’ll see how it pans out come season 4 — which we all know is the last season.

news: community pulled from NBC lineup, fans feel bad (2012)

this is the darkest timeline. for no reason whatsoever, it looks like NBC has pulled community from its graveyard lineup on friday, october 19th. not even a fuckin’ friday, y’all? based god willing, another network will just pick this up (i’m looking at you, FX or netflix).

news: NBC releases its fall lineup [parks & rec, office, community, etc.] (2012)

NBC has released its ‘edgier’ lineup. thursdays will never be the same, as ‘community’ will hit the backburner and not premiere until october 19th – a friday – signaling it’s early grave. the rest of the shows, times and dates can be seen at the links below.

dan harmon replaced as community showrunner (2012)

to add to the shitstorm that is the inevitable demise of community (the fourth season), weekend matters were made worse when dan harmon was edged out as the showrunner for the beloved community. and while his replacements worked on happy endings (which is fuckin’ awesome), it’s sad to see the creative mind behind our beloved greendale human beings let go.

oh and he wrote a pretty good blog entry about it.

the fate of parks & rec, community and 30 rock is doomed (2012)

amidst “dead day” of weworemasks and yesterday’s rehaul, i completely missed this life-shattering news: nbc will be renewing most of the beloved thursday night lineup, but for a meager 13-episode season. word on nearly every outlet is that all of the shows will be axed in favor of a new direction, which includes: matthew perry’s go on, a new ryan murphy show and a slew of other drivel-like bullshit. it’s amazing to me that shows with cult followings like this can get the axe, and shows like the office are able to run untouched for 8 fucking seasons onward.

let’s all go to FX, where shows like sunny, louie and wilfred are still going strong…for now.

news: NBC’s community is back (2012)

while the hiatus a few months ago left us nerds in shambles, it was short lived. community will be returning to NBC’s beloved thursday night lineup to its original spot on march 15th, where we’ll rekindle the flames of our everlasting love for these greendale degenerates. up all night will finish out the first season in it’s new spot and be replaced by parks & recreation, who will give up their timeslot for the folks at 30 rock, who will pass their timeslot’s torch to community. confused yet? me too.

TV news: 24 & party down movies will happen; community will air this year (2012)

a lot of relevant news (to me, anyway) over this past weekend for some of my favorite TV shows. let’s recap.

-the neo-conservative, anti-terrorist, pro-torture, pro-USA serialized drama 24 will in fact be shooting a movie. the downside? there’s probably going to be a terrorist plot with mexican-american actors playing radical muslims. the upside? jack bauer saying “dammit!” again. hey, if it’s rated R, maybe we’ll get a rework of “yippy-ki-yay, motherfucker!” [SOURCE.]

-megan mullaly confirmed that party down‘s film counterpart is being written as we speak, and will begin production/filming this spring/summer. what’s the over/under for lizzy caplan showin’ some skin, or in the least – some sideboob? [SOURCE.]

- worried about a lack of jack donaghy in your future? fret not, 30 rock fans. alec baldwin has signed on for a seventh season. [SOURCE.]

- TROY AND ABED IN THE SPRRRRRIIIINNNNGGGGGTIME. community is confirmed to air the rest of the third season in 2012, more than likely after its old buddies parks & recreation and the office get off the air. either that, or the network plans to move it to a new timeslot, so that it’s not competing with that shitshow and a half, the big bang theory. talks of a fourth season are all but shot down, so don’t hold your breath. NBC just released extended previews for 3 of their flagship shows, all of which have new seasons premiering on september 22nd. shall be a good day.

some notes:

-the office has always been inconsistent. there’s a much bigger likelihood that a season without steve carrell will tank, rather succeed. seeing as how it’s the last season, i’m sure very few people care. i’ve continued to watch the show blindly, but it’s mainly to complain. it’s had its share of great moments. see: threat level midnight.

-parks and recreation will immediately introduce us to the infamous bitch, tammy one. we’ll also see way more adam scott (always a good thing) and aziz in flashier clothes, working in close proximity to jean-ralphio. winning.

-community will have john goodman, and that’s pretty awesome. catch the office and community previews below the jump.
