evan weiss took his sad ass and his sad songs to daytrotter for a ‘lengthy’ six song session. stream it over at their site, download it if you’re a member!
yall want to watch an hour of balls out rock and roll? the boys of death on two wheels stopped by the audiotree studios for a full on session with a husky seth rogen lookalike, which includes plenty of “get to know you” type questions intertwined with performances of new songs from their as of now untitled record. and if that wasn’t enough for your audio palettes, refine it a bit by listening to their daytrotter sessions, where they performed the same songs under different pretenses.
mewithoutyou is taking their brand new record ten stories to daytrotter. the new session just went up yesterday and is ready for streaming. members, of course, can download it.
there’s definitely been weirder sessions. in honor of their newly released black up, these seattle boys are wasting no resources and flooding the interwebs the best way a hip-hopish act on subpop can.
i mean, i would’ve loved one of these during the waiters era, but i’ll take it. the alaska/portland hippies visit the daytrotter studios to give songs from the satanic satanist a revisit. which is heavily reminiscent of what i need to do with the record. it’s safe to assume this session is old, seeing as how american ghetto‘s already out and stuff…but i’ll take it.
steel train’s self titled is in stores today. pick that up unless you hate your life. as an added bonus (if terrible thrills wasn’t enough of an incentive), the boys in steel train stopped by the always wonderful daytrotter studios and laid down a nice 6-song/30 minute set there.
in case you need a good read this evening, be sure to read jack’s blog entry about the ‘making of’ aspect of the record here.
in what seems like an effort to give every fang island fan blue balls, the group stopped by the daytrotter studios to knock out a sesh, but managed to only blaze two songs. two songs?! C’MON! in other news, the houston bears just learned of a possibility of a free fang island show at the house of blues in late may.
jarrod gorbel, the mastermind behind the honorary title, gets his daytrotter on. as he furthers his campaign into being a solo artist, i’m finding myself more and more pleased with his decision to leave the honorary title tag behind. hopefully now people beyond a certain scene can recognize him as the gifted singer/songwriter he is.
oh my. daytrotter is probably one of my favorite sites (and the most consistent) over the past few years and this would be a great testament as to why. the multi-dimensional approach daytrotter puts onto all of its visiting bands shines on these sessions. three of beggars finest (wait, they’re all good.) are performed alongside a rousing cover of tom wait’s “come on up to the house.”
hope you haven’t put the indie road trip album on the backburner. cymbals eat guitars’ why there are mountains has surpassed most other albums i’ve listened to this year in terms of longevity so naturally i’m more than excited that the new yorker’s did the daytrotter thing, performing 3 mountains tracks and “tunguska”.
this is by far the most menacing and diabolically epic thing cursive has ever done. i have no clue what i just watched.
kasher also stopped by to do a daytrotter session, which is included after the jump. don’t pass on it. there’s a cover of bowie’s “modern love” and the cure’s “lovecats.” nuff said.
hey, remember to check out our interview with chase. now that that’s out of the way, chase pagan stopped by the daytrotter offices to lay down a bunch of new songs from his tasty new album, bells and whistles, which hit stores last week.
head over to the site to check out his sessions.
and while on topic of chase pagan, be sure to hit up this link to check out an entire live set and interview that chase did for break thru radio. great stuff.
it’s been a while since they changed their name from cavil at rest (which is still a cooler band name to me) to local natives. regardless, the groups been making waves. they recently got on board with one of indie’s holy grail — the daytrotter sessions. the last time i posted about this band was when the blog first started (hi, blogspot) and you can check that out here. the band doesn’t necessarily sound the same as they do on those two EPs, but feel free to grab those for a bit of back history on the boys.
the group still has a lot of soul, but their sound is somewhere is between vampire weekend and band of horses. awkward comparison, i know. check em’ out.
