detox is shaping up…to be a giant disappointment. peep this recovery throwaway that has a pretty great beat that dre didn’t even produce. alex da kid (yeah, the guy responsible for “nothin on you” and “love the way you lie”) did a fine job here.

who the hell is skylar grey, and why do i feel like i’m watching japanese anime for american children when i hear those two words together?

you’d think that with a lineup like this, the track wouldn’t have been such a snooze. this particular joint is a few years old, liberated by the internet lords for an early present for new years, or a late christmas present. either way, where is the line for returns?

eminem – i need a doctor [f. dr. dre and skylar] (2010)

i’m not sure what it is about the albums, but eminem’s been killing these off shoots from his record. this song reunites dr. dre and eminem again (relapse seriously doesn’t fuckin’ count) and shows that old school animosity from em and that ghostwritten street shit from eminem on dr. dre’s behalf. the hook is piss-poor, though.

the internet thinks this is on the re-release of recovery and/or detox.

t.i. – all she wrote [f. eminem] + no mercy tracklisting (2010)

the two that linked up on t.i. vs. t.i.p.‘s “touchdown” (which kinda sucked) hook up yet again for a cut off of tip’s no mercy, due out december 7th. this song kills the former and bumps a laid back beat that both hop on and fare pretty well on.

here’s the most updated tracklisting for tip’s record, features in tact. good to see that all the leaked songs (yeah you know, ya hear me, i’m back, got your back, etc) aren’t on the record and were replaced by all new tracks.

nicki minaj – roman’s revenge [f. eminem] (2010)

and one of the 4 songs i want to actually hear from nicki’s album hits the web. the beat’s unorthodox as hell, but swizz does his thing. nicki’s ok but is still all about that punchline flow, and meanwhile, eminem’s getting all slim shady LP in here. two verses each, too.

sans the incredibly risky sample, this is one of the few great songs on recovery, so i’m especially happy to see that it’s the next single; especially considering that the previous singles might be one of the worst songs i’ve ever heard. the video’s pretty much what you expect, except that the jaden smith look-alike gets his redemption on the bullies instead of taking the high road.

video: jay-z + kanye west + eminem – live at yankee stadium (2010)

DAMNIT. ye hit the stage at jay/em’s massive headline shows to perform the ‘power remix’ and ‘monster’ for the first time. the latter brought out the best ass in hip-hop as well. say what you will about jay, but the man still knows how to put on one of the best shows ever.
