not too long ago on valentines day, houston emcee hasHBrown dropped an EP by the name of relationshit, which has since gone on to get a lot of local praise, me included. and for those who aren’t aware of hash’s capabilities, you’ll be glad to know that he’s also a full-time producer, and this ep was one of his finest works to date. here we have the instrumentals + samples release, a staple for any up and coming hip-hop artist who’s too lazy to make beats and wants to write some shit for a mixtape. either way, grab this release, and most especially relationshit if you haven’t already.

video: mantis – dreamer (2011)

danny ocean of evesborough films and nick greer/the mantis crew link up for another music video from the dreamer ep. this time, the title track (despite being a notch above 2 minutes) gets a visual that will knock you on your ass and take you back to the glory days of wrestling. what i’d give to see a “hardcore” match like the original tables, ladders and chairs match with the dudley boys, hardy boys and edge & christian. did i just bring back some awesome memories or what?!

there’s always a couple releases that you realize you forgot to include on your year-end lists. the graduate’s only every time completely slipped my mind in december, and that kinda sucks. make it up to the guys by downloading or paying for this neat little b-sides ep of cuts that didn’t make the aforementioned record.

glassjaw – new song; announcement of a new ep (2011)

and the glassjaw goodies keep rolling in. here’s a rip of a glassjaw song, for which the source file was named ‘gold.’ also, that tour they’re going on? they’ll be giving out free eps (that’s what gratis means, right?) at each stop on the routing. definitely a must-see.

album review: glassjaw – our color green EP (2011)

well – back to work, right? what’s most surprising is that a 5 song EP from glassjaw managed to have a bigger word count than most reviews i’ve written, which average anywhere from 400 to 500. even more notable, this is my first review for an EP – ever. even in college. it’s all good, though. here’s to the first of many reviews in ’11.

glassjaw’s back, and that’s pretty much the best thing ever.

rjd2 – the glow remixes ep (2011)

cool guy/dj rjd2 has just made available an ep titled the glow remixes, which remixes, you guessed it, songs from “the glow,” off of 2010′s the colossus. the cuts come courtesy of flosstradamus, paolo, and candy panther. haven’t heard of the latter two? that’s okay. they’re both young upstarts hand selected by rjd2 himself. enjoy.

EDIT: bringing this back up because it’s true, and you can now buy the EP. happy new year, playas.

well, ok then. i realized that the release of all those 7” singles were leading up to something. however, i could honestly say that i wasn’t expecting an “all in one” release of the aforementioned singles. worship and tribute came out in 02, gentleman. releasing one single every month for the past five and then banding them together as an EP EIGHT YEARS LATER does not fucking count.

this band is so frustrating. sad thing is, i’ll probably buy it. and really? tracks in alphabetical order?! hilarious.

england’s eccentric-minded, wild beasts, are set to release a new ep of remixes of tracks from 2009′s stylishly theatrical two dancers titled, appropriately enough, two dancers remixes ep. weird, i know. remix duties have been handled by junior boys, jon hopkins, oneohtrix point never white knights and son lux. you can listen to the whole thing below.
