This will be the third time I’ve seen J. Cole perform. As someone who’s been a fan since The Warm Up, I’m glad to see this guy progress and become more and more huge as time progresses. His emceeing ability is second to very, very few in the “freshman” category, so it’s definitely refreshing. Anyway, I showed up late to avoid the supposed huge lines, and seeing as how there were only two acts, the recap will reflect as such.

show recap: j. cole/the niceguys (april 5, 2011)

A couple of weeks ago, J. Cole played an Austin show at a fraternity house for charity. That show sold out at about $25 a ticket, but naturally, I didn’t go for several reasons. The price for one. For two, it was the week after SXSW, so it’s safe to say I was a little burned out on Austin. I was more than happy to find that my dudes in the Niceguys were opening up for Cole at a Prairie View ‘Springfest’ event only two weeks after I heard all the acclaim from the previous show in my inner circle.

An hour drive isn’t too bad for a free J. Cole/Niceguys show, right?

in true gentleman style, cole releases the video for this ladies anthem with everyone’s favorite degrassi character right before valentines day is over, so you can go ahead and ask your companion for the night the obvious question. aside from that, this video’s a cool look into what looks like a HUGE european tour with drake.

cole world, ya’ll. he finally got the chance to unveil some of his latest venture on stage this past weekend in seattle. up top is “looking for trouble,” and below the jump you can find clips of “i ain’t mad at cha” and “enchanted,” along with “in the morning.”

mixtape: j. cole – friday night lights (2010)



this week’s good friday is pretty much a non-issue at this point. nevermind the album leak and the unlikelihood that there actually is a track this week. it’s all about j. cole, who’s finally releasing his ridiculously anticipated follow-up to the warm up. granted, we should’ve had the LP by now, but i’m literally ok with anything homedude puts out.

hope this one is as ridiculous as his previous efforts. he’s been shutting down the internet with this one, so have fun trying to get this on your computer.
