video: fun. – we are young [live on conan] (2012)

22 02 2012

the album version of “we are young” a little too polished for you? that’s all good, because fun brings along 5 touring band members (and a drummer!) for a much louder version of the song on their late night debut. plot twist: there’s some kids too.

video: fun. – some nights [intro] (2012)

21 02 2012

is this the coolest thing this band has done? probably. i mean, they’re wearing tuxedos, drinking scotch and/or whiskey and singing pop songs to women in formal dresses.

go buy some nights right now.

free album: fun. – aim & ignite (2012)

17 02 2012

while these boys are getting ready for album number 2, the folks at noisetrade have teamed up with fun. to give away their first album for free. well, it’s more of a pay what you want situation, but it’s a good way to get reacquainted with one of our personal collective favorite records for real cheap.

some nights drops 2/20.

download:

fun. – aim & ignite [pay what you want]

stream: fun. – some nights (2012)

13 02 2012

i’ve already listened to it twice through, and am a hyperbole’s worth of ‘in love’ with this shit. fun.’s oft-hyped-round-these-parts, oft-delayed new effort is finally coming out next week, a mere 3 years after 2009′s aim & ignite. listen to it at soundcloud and tell us how much you love/hate it. and it’s not too late to preorder!

stream:

fun. – some nights [full album stream]

stream: fun. – carry on (2012)

24 01 2012

seriously, how good is this band? is it too soon to call AOTY? can i at least call top 5? whatever.

video: fun. – studio update (2012)

stream: anthony green – only love [f. nate reuss of fun.] (2012)

12 01 2012

anthony’s parts are cool, but holy sweet mother of everything pure in the world – nate reuss makes this song his bitch.

video: fun. – we are young [behind the scenes] (2012)

10 01 2012

you gotta love that fun. is getting a lot of coverage on complex mag. seems like these guys will really bust through the mainstream. and that glee bit couldn’t have hurt, either.

video: fun. – we are young (2012)

2 01 2012

you know those slow motion videos on youtube of things spilling, exploding and transforming? well, fun’s video for “we are young” is the anthology of those things. cannot wait for some nights.

video: fun. – sonic live webcast + interview (2011)

30 11 2011

a while ago, we posted a clip stolen from this webcast – a live performance of the gleeful “we are young.” sure enough CoS were kind enough to put the entire webcast up, which includes the interview up top, as well as performances of “we are young,” “all the pretty girls” and “walking the dog.” them good times, folks.

watch:

video: fun. – carry on [acoustic; new song] (2011)

19 11 2011

holler at BWC for the heads up on this one. the fun. crew took to an exclusive hour-long dealio with consequence of sound today, and due to the lack of them not having the stream up continuously, this rip shall do. i won’t mind if fun keep dropping little ditties constantly til feb. 21st.

-grizzly

video: fun. – some nights (2011)

15 11 2011

fun’s a real group of bastards for releasing this great teaser for an album that doesn’t come out for another 4 months.

-grizzly

video: fun. – some nights [live] (2011)

10 11 2011

here’s a clip of fun. performing the title track of their upcoming february album, which is equally anticipated as it is distant. seriously, nate reuss is one of the best frontmen, and these guys look like they’re havin’ a grand ol time.

-grizzly

video: fun. – we are young [acoustic; f. janelle monae] (2011)

7 11 2011

how incredible is it to see nate reuss and janelle monae in a video performing together? call me mcdonalds, cause i’m lovin’ it, yall. fun.’s sophomore effort now has a title and a release date: some nights will drop on FBR on february 21, 2012. too soon to call AOTY?

-grizzly

video: fun. – it gets better [new song; acoustic] (2011)

3 10 2011

the good news is that the new fun. album is complete. the bad news is that they don’t know when it’s coming out. from prior statements, i still wouldn’t count on it coming out this year. anyway, new song performed acoustic and it sounds just fantastic.

- panda

stream: fun. – we are young [f. janelle monae] (2011)

19 09 2011

it looks fantastic on paper, doesn’t it? truth be told, janelle monae is barely here, if not for the namedrop alone. at the same time, this song is classic fun, just driven by piano and synths as opposed to orchestral arrangements. they’ve been performing this for quite some time now, and it’s nice to finally hear it put to wax. the bad news is that their new album doesn’t drop til 2012. sad face.

-grizzly

video: fun. – studio update (2011)

7 09 2011

bad news first: fun.’s new album will not be coming out this year, and that’s really sad.
good news second: fun. is working with jeff bhasker (yes, the guy who works with kanye west constantly) and is hitting the road with janelle monae for a quick college tour. dates here.

oh and fun. being featured on complex mag? AWESOME.

-grizzly

video: fun. – carry on + we are young [live; two new songs] (2011)

12 08 2011

so fun.’s done with their follow-up to aim&ignite, which was my AOTY in 2009. will they 2-peat? probably not, but if these songs are any indication, they’ll be giving my top 10 a run for its collective money. “we are young” is below the jump.

interview: fun. (2011)

18 06 2011

all photo credits: weworemasks

I’ve just been a huge fan of all things related to Nate Reuss since the latter part of the 2000s. That being said, it was quite awesome being able to speak with one of the more earnest singers/songwriters that I’ve listened to over the span of 3 albums and 2 bands.

fun. recently stopped by Houston, TX on their tour with Panic! at the Disco and I had the chance to speak on the phone with Nate prior to their show that evening, where we discussed future plans with the band that included as much as we could get about the new album, touring plans and hey – hip-hop.

Hit the jump for the interview.

show recap: panic! at the disco/fun. (june 15, 2011)

16 06 2011

all photo credits: weworemasks

I’ll be the first to admit that while I really like both of these bands, going to their joint show with a crowd that was undoubtedly going to be younger than me all the way across the board isn’t my cup of tea. I’m not trying to be the bitter drunk guy who sits in the back and mumbles that “he saw Panic! in 2005″ or “Have you even heard of The Format?” – scratch that, I am trying to be that guy. Because of such a circumstance, I was completely wary of this show. However, the tour stopped by Houston’s House of Blues on Wednesday night and I attended hoping to have a good time and of course, be proven wrong of all my jaded delusions. Recap after the jump. All photos are credited to weworemasks.

[ed. note - There's an interview with Nate Reuss of fun. coming soon!]

video: panic at the disco + fun. – c’mon [live in atlanta] (2011)

31 05 2011

hopefully catching this tour when it comes to houston (don’t you even dare judge me) and i’m definitely looking forward to the two bands’ collaborative effort being performed. funeral party and foxy shazam are pretty great openers too right? anyway, this is the first time the bands performed this song. more to come, hopefully.
