new visuals for the converse collaborative dream team of gorillaz, james murphy, and andre 3000 (the latter making quite a few cameos in the clip), featuring the members of the virtual band going about their morning rituals in their shameless-esque british flat. 2d is abused by murdoc, who refuses to amble down their three flights of stairs, noodle oversleeps and looks cute doing so, and russel’s behemoth anchoring the floating island. check it aout at the link below.
gorillaz – doyathing [ft. james murphy + andre 3000]
3 of the more mysterious figures in music collaborating on a track for converse? seems pretty weird, right? the gorillaz bring both james murphy out of “retirement” and andre 3000 from hiding for this glitchy little track. oh and andre’s verse? ridiculous.
the gorillaz – do ya thing [f. james murphy & andre 3000]
this album was recorded entirely on an iPad. if that isn’t some sweet, free promotion (as far as we know!) for steve jobs and his empire, i don’t know what is. listen to the fall for free/download it if you’re in the fan club or know how to use the internet.
albarn and company have recently announced that there’s an “all-ipad” created album that’s being released on christmas day – well here’s the teaser. definitely curious to see what you could come up with on that new-fangled contraption.
here’s the tracklist.
gorillaz and snoop’s official video for “welcome to the world of plastic beach.”
an unlikely pairing, but it works so well.
gorillaz just kicked of a national tour in suport of their recently released plastic beach and they hit up the ol’ ed sullivan theater to, not only perform “rhinestone eyes” for letterman, but an entire 45 minute concert for cbs’ webcast. check below for a taste of their elaborate set, kooky visuals and what’s to come on tour.
plastic beach is out now
have the gorillaz ever made a video that’s less than magic? second single off plastic beach, which is in desperate need of a revisit.
gorillaz – on melancholy hill
damon albarn and company john bobby womack in a completely normal and eerily awkward human form of the gorillaz to perform ‘stylo’ on the colbert report. i mean, there isn’t a singel thing wrong with the performance, but i don’t watch nearly enough gorillaz performances to know whether or not they’ve done this before. in any case, this is quite the contrast to the massive spectacle the pied pipers of animated hip-hop/pop hybrids put on this past weekend at coachella.
plastic beach is blowing up as expected and is in stores now.
gorillaz – stylo f. bobby womack and mos def
as usual, expect nothing but to be visually blown away by gorillaz in their video for stylo. looks like we have bruce willis to thank for murdoc & co. ending up on plastic beach.
gorillaz – stylo (ft. mos def & bobby womack).
who says npr is all whispery voices? for their first album in five years the gorillaz unveiled some amazing artwork (expected), a shocking guest-lineup (expected) and created a glitzy, sexy genre bending album (again, expected). so how is it that everything they do is so avant-garde and innovative? oh yeah, this guy. stream the entire album a week ahead of its release below.
everyone’s getting excited about this one. the looney tunes know that as well, so they’ve dropped off a nice little treat to tide you over until the album drops.
gorillaz – plastic beach [album mix]
no, not a new song. in honor of their new record, plastic beach, the animated troupe has decided to release a series of vignettes (i’m assuming), and here’s the first, murdoc.
plastic beach is out on march 8.
everyone’s getting excited about the junior effort from the gorillaz, right? plastic beach is out march 3rd, and we have a little studio footage from the camp, who’s usually much more animated than this video lets on.
oh and did you totally miss the ball on stylo?
see the rest of the studio footage and album trailers over here.
it’s really, REALLY hard to go wrong when it comes to gorillaz. and you wanna go and add the legendary bobby womack and mos def to the equation? you’ve got an instant smash on your hands with this one. the track is the lead single off plastic beach, which is set for release on march 9th. easily one of my most anticipated albums this year (and sure to make my end of year list). hit the cut for the tracklisting that includes guest appearances from the likes of snoop dogg, lou reed, de la soul, and more.
gorillaz on myspace.
