japandroids released a great album earlier this year, post-nothing that satiated my love of anthemic, one-liner, gang-vocal choruses. they’re here doing just the same on kexp performing ‘crazy/forever’, ‘heart sweats’, ‘young hearts spark fire’ and cover big black’s ‘racer x’. their performance is easily summed up by drummer david prowse – “tight!”.
japandroids are a guitar and drums duo from vancouver, whos album, the cleverly titled post-nothing will never see the light of day here in the u.s. shame. their stripped down, cranked up, rough around the edges yet furiously melodic songs about lost youth and innocence is the kind of coming-of-age soundtrack so many desperately need. not to say that these guys lack balls, given their subject matter: japandroids rock exceptionally hard. get on it, young hearts.
