hash brown – grand re-opening [remix f. hollywood floss] (2011)

so we’ve never posted about hash brown on weworemasks. he’s a part of a local emcee group called T.H.E.M., which is a hip-hop collective whose mindset is putting on great shows (like the upcoming one mic houston show – more info on that at this link) and having an organization like mentality to boast the good emcees that houston’s been hiding. you may remember thurogood and wwm-fav hollywood floss, who are both members of the group. in any case, they put together this remix for a song that can orignally be found on brown’s album, rap mayor, which is available for free download.

weworemasks presents: 2010 year-end lists [friends and family edition]

First things first. I know there are plenty of you who have submitted user lists to us in the past, and because we’re fine gentleman of the people, we’ve posted them. The good thing about this blog is that it grows every year, and this year is easily our biggest year – so I really didn’t have the heart, time and patience to sift through what was sure to be a hefty list of user submissions. That being said, I’ve sought out a few of my colleagues and closest musical comrades in Texas, Colorado, LA and NYC to compile a somewhat “exclusive list” of user lists.

I’d like to thank all of the submitters for taking time to send em over. I owe you all several hugs and drinks. And by drinks, I mean more posts of support from this here website. I urge all of you to check out this fine group of folks’ respective websites, twitters and works of art.

video: hollywood floss – just my thoughts (2010)

[vodpod id=Video.4924619&w=425&h=350&fv=%26rel%3D0%26border%3D0%26]

our homie floss put together a nice little music video for his cut from the xperiment 2, which some of you may remember as the mixtape that put the bloggers in control. this was easily one of the best songs from the project, so i’m glad it’s getting a visual. in the meantime, be sure to download the mixtape and the house of dreams sampler on his spotlight.

mixtape: hollywood floss – the xperiment vol. II [weworemasks.com edition] (2010)

right off the bat, i gotta say: my man hollywood floss is a god damn genius for this one. the xperiment vol. II is a revolutionary mixtape that’ll change mixtapes for-ever. fooooorrrever. the concept is simple: floss sent out a .zip file with about 20 songs with a set of instructions that would ultimately put this mixtape’s fate in our hands.

our objective was to choose ten of the 20 songs to create our own edition of floss’ mixtape. so without further ado, i’ve chosen my tracks and put together this compilation of what i feel are some of the most accessible songs for the readers of our website; weworemasks’ take of hollywood floss’ the xperiment vol. II.

1. Get Up (Intro) – Produced by Hollywood FLOSS & Chris Rockaway

houston hip-hop / verbal slaughter [f. hollywood floss, rob jay, more] (2010)

there’s always been a stigma that the south can’t rap, so a bunch of houston-based rappers set out to kick the shit out of this beat and prove a point. some of the bigger names on the cypher include hollywood floss and rob jay (both of whom have been posted on here), and also includes the likes of kidd the great, john dew and hash brown. this is a nice track with a mean beat, and i’m highly suggesting you download this shit asap.
