it’s incredible how far dustin’s come in a couple of years. the clip for for “alright” opens up with footage that he took himself of his song playing at the american airlines center during a tv timeout at a mavericks game. impressive, really. just a year and a half ago, we were talking to him in his apartment about the release of “be.leave.me” and all of that jazz.
well, get on the clip above and enjoy the music video for “alright,” a track that saw dustin putting out something a bit more commercial and just as effective, and a video that sees him surrounded by his friends, family and colleagues enjoying the aforementioned track.
1000 days is available for free download, and his newest LP (which holds this track), is available here.

weworemasks champion dustin cavazos is currently enjoying a lot of steam fresh of the release of his new lp, in and out of sleep. he recently stopped by the dallas morning news studios to shoot an acoustic performance and a brief interview (after the jump). if you haven’t found your way onto the bandwagon yet, pick up his new album here or stream it on spotify, download it on itunes, etc. your ears will thank you.
dustin cavazos always has a unique sense of promotion. he always maintains a sense of “open book” with his fans, but is reluctant to share album versions of songs as promotion, so he’s always coming up with clever outlets such as this. in this clip, he premieres a new song from his pending LP, in and out of sleep, and performs it live within the confines of an apartment. along with him for the ride is friend and guitarist, jaramiah. IAOOS is out december 14, and you can preorder it right here.
dustin cavazos is on a roll now. as we inch closer and closer to the 4th quarter release of what promises to be a great album (in and out of sleep), he releases a studio/alternate version to “a song you’ve never sung.” full of xylophones, drum machines and piano makes for a version that dustin promises will be different come album release. it’s gonna be hard to out do this one, but for now, watch the video.
finally! dustin cavazos has been off in his own world, making sure everything is right in the world of his upcoming album, in and out of sleep. the track “alright,” is produced by james sayko, and will be the record’s first single, and features some bars from fellow dallas talent in slim gravy, whose full time allegiance lies in a.dd+.
if you like what you hear, be sure to support dustin on itunes and cop the single.
in and out of sleep will be out sometime soon, before 2012’s over and done with.
Schoolboy Q has been cleaning up blogs and hip-hop heads across the webs’ recommendations this year, hasn’t he? After Kendrick Lamar’s superb 2011, Schoolboy Q was the next up from Top Dawg Entertainment to showcase his talents, managing to hold his own on January’s Habits & Contradictions. It was strange that by the end of June, he was already headlining a set at Houston’s Warehouse Live Studio, and brought along our friends The Niceguys and Dallas’ Dustin Cavazos along for the ride.
Hit the jump for the recap.
we can all use a bit more dustin cavazos in our life. the hardest working dude in dallas has released a promotional video for a new song, “ups and downs,” which will show up on his new project, in and out of sleep. hopefully this project is coming sooner rather than later, because this track is vibin’ quite well.
dustin stays working. while currently holed up making his new album, in and out of sleep (due out this spring), dustin took some time to record a dope performance of a brand new song in his dallas apartment. swag.
