news: kid cudi pushes release date for indicud up 1 week

Ok so, INDICUD will be released April 16th now. Physical and digitally!! SPREAD THE WORD!!

Scott Mescudi

leaks are unavoidable nowadays, but it’s nice to see kid cudi having the leverage to pull off a push-up for the release date of his album. i mean 3 weeks with a leaked record is enough to damage sales (imagine what asap could’ve done, yanno?), so why not?

indicud is out april 16th.

listen: kid cudi speaks on plans after g.o.o.d. music

cudi’s last outing on g.o.o.d. music comes april 23rd, and after that he has a handful of plans of what he wants to do in music. he stopped by rikki martinez’s show on big boy’s neighborhood to discuss everything from his upcoming movie ventures, to the walking dead finale (you can skip that clip if you’re spoiler free), and much more.

hear the main part below, and the rest here.

kid cudi has finished and turned in his newest LP, indicud. no word on a release date, but expect word from the very vocal rapper. i’m hoping for a strong comeback album, after a bit of a fall off on WZRD. we shall see.

listen: kid cudi – immortal

i don’t know what it is about kid cudi. he’s very talented. he’s great on other people’s songs, especially kanye’s. he has a knack for melody and has written plenty of great things in the past. but his solo viagra canadian pharmacy stuff is…awkward. this song isn’t bad — it’s just weird. on “immortal,” he flips MGMT’s “congratulations” and harmonizes over it.

yeah i’m not even sure i hate it. do i love it? i don’t know – indicud is out someday.

news: kid cudi announces release date for ‘indicud’

i’ve been waiting patiently for kid cudi to start releasing music i enjoy again. he’s had plenty of great work in the interim of now and the man on the moon 1 days (“she hates me” for one) but everything else has been pretty hit or miss. the tracks he’s released from this album thus far have been on par with what i’m expecting, though.

anyway, it’s as close to 4/20 as he could get.

read: kid cudi’s feb/march complex cover story

pretty good cover story on the cudder, and it includes most of his recent label woes, as he heads into the album cycle for his upcoming (and delayed) LP, indicud.

You only had one song on Cruel Summer. Were you disappointed?

I was a little disappointed. But Kanye had a vision for that. Whatever that vision was didn’t include much of me. [Laughs.] I was bummed because I could’ve contributed. I’m a good asset. But he had a different vision. Everyone that was showcased on the album did their thing and they needed that at that time. The energy was on some hip-hop shit. I was on WZRD, doing my rock shit. But I’m not tripping.

read the full, kinda morbid feature in full.

stream: big boi – she hates me [feat. kid cudi] (2012)

let’s get this out of the way: kid cudi has been very inconsistent since he released man on the moon. however, i’d go as far as saying 100% of his guest features have been relatively on point, ESPECIALLY all of the hook work he’s done. and “she hates me” is no exception. he provides a real groovy backbone to this new single from big boi’s vicious lies, out dec. 11.

kid cudi – king wizard (2012)

minimalist production reminds you of the man on the moon/”solo dolo” days, and kid cudi’s always had a knack for melody, but something is a little off/awkward with this one. i’m a cudder apologist (despite my fervent disregard of motm2), and still have high hopes for indicud – a record that is the best ever according to cudi.

listen to “king wizard” below.
