one of my favorite tracks from last year’s root for ruin, the video for les savy fav’s “sleeping in silverlake” features a trio of street performers lounging out in a karaoke bar playing, who else – les savy fav.

video: les savy fav – let’s get out of here (2010)
23 11 2010taken from les savy fav’s latest lo root for ruin, the video for “let’s get out of here” follows a light projected (does that qualify as a hologram?) skater, as he pushes his yellow board across a town at night. he even successfully ollies a curb at the 1:52 mark. even the holograms have obstacles to contend with, like not being of a corporeal being.

22 09 2010seeing the words “les savy fav” and “acoustic” is like a conundrum: how do you corral the explosively raunchy idiosyncrasies of frontman tim harrington long enough to perform a peaceful acoustic set? answer: you don’t. harrington plays with bugs, eats random fruit, and shows off his belly to the tune of a few root for ruin songs. “lips n’ stuff” is up above, and “let’s get out of here” and “appetites” are below the jump.

weworemasks.com’s sxsw recap (2010)
30 03 2010sxsw is a lovely time of year where all of our friends from various cities in texas decide to congregate in austin for all of it’s lush atmosphere (think about it) and an endless lineup of flavor-of-the-year bands. all three bears, along with our videographer of the week josh, @klainep and grizzly’s main squeeze would become the wolfpack to scour the streets of austin in hopes of catching something memorable and damaging our livers.
this year, we’d spend a lot of time at rachael ray’s showcase (a first), walking (typical) and waiting in hopeless lines. we faced our share of challenges this year, but the bears prevailed and left austin alive with most of our parts in tact. as if this 3000 word recap isn’t enough for you all, then we will have full sets (yes, full!) of theophilus london, japandroids, fang island and local natives coming soon. stay tuned for those.

photo recap: fun fun fun fest [day one] (2009)

so we’re finally getting to the fun fun fun fest material. you know us, we’re lazy and very prone to procrastination. i mean c’mon, we have jobs and vodka to tend to. we ended up not being able to make it into the festival until 4:30, so we missed about 4 and a half hours of opening bands which included the likes of vega, young widows and russian circles, which was a definite bummer – but goes hand in hand with festival antics and hustle. the recap’s are coming soon, folks. for now, here’s a recap of day one’s events via sunbear’s camera lens.
