show recap: underøath’s farewell tour (with mewithoutyou, as cities burn and letlive.)

When news broke out of Underoath’s farewell tour, their fanbase shared mixed reactions. For the nine cities that were lucky enough to get tour dates, sheer joy and excitement. Especially since they were bringing (current and former) labelmates As Cities Burn and mewithoutYou along for the ride, and threw some letlive. in for good measure. Now, for the rest of the contiguous United States, the band was met with “wtfs” and “how dare yous” at the audacity of ignoring their friends out west.

The reasons for this, however, seemed obvious. The band was done. Why else only announce 9 dates, which I’ll refer to as “the bare minimum?” Lucky for Houston, we were one of the nine cities, and Underoath brought a fantastic night of heavy rock music to the House of Blues.

video: letlive. – documentary part III (2012)

in the third part of the “a night with letlive” documentary, you get to jump right into the on-stage chaos that occurs on a nightly basis with the band. here’s part 2 and part 1 if you missed em.

however, the timing of this is rough, considering the band put up a strange/emotional message up on their facebook, announcing that they’re leaving their current tour with every time i die. check out the message below.

Today marks the hardest and most unfavorable decision we have ever had to make as an outfit as we must announce our departure from the current tour with Every Time I Die, The Chariot, and Kills And Thrills. Due to an inescapable issue that calls for our return home, we have been offered no alternative. Please understand this is the very last thing we would ever want, but truly, there is no other option for us at this point. We have already already begun planning to make up for our absence in the remaining regions and can assure you we will be back much sooner than you think. This goes without being said, but we’ll say it anyway- go support these incredible bands. This is undoubtedly one of the most praiseworthy lineups to date. Thank you for you support and understanding. We will see you soon.

let’s hope the guys get things settled and hit the road again!

tour dates: underoath’s farewell tour [with mewithoutyou, as cities burn and letlive] (2012)

well, underoath’s farewell couldn’t possibly go out on a better note. not only is the whole band totally cool with each other and all that shit, calling an amicable split and what have you – but they’ve put together an incredible lineup for their farewell tour.

i mean as cities burn alone gets me ridiculously excited, but throw in letlive and mwY and you have a party and a half. see ya on january 23rd.

news: letlive. finish recording their album, part ways with drummer (2012)

this is both great news and bad news. one of my favorite things about fake history was the drumming, so it’s sad to see that letlive. has parted ways with their drummer, aric improta. but the good news here is that they announced that they’re done recording their new LP. if i had to guess, i’d say it’ll be out in the first quarter of 2013.

news: letlive. begin writing follow up to fake history (2012)

first off – the video up top is just fucking ridiculous. jason butler takes a trash can, dumps it on his head and rolls around in it. second off, according to various websites, the band is going to be holed away writing their new record, and a recent facebook update leads us to believe the same. let’s hope it’s 1/2 as good as fake history.

show recap: enter shikari/letlive. (may 7, 2012)

After an e-mail blast about the Enter Shikari tour with letlive, I was naturally curious to attend. Having no prior knowledge of Enter Shikari beforehand proved to be both out of my comfort zone musically and a challenge to write about journalistically. Sure, I was a fan of letlive., having seen them (no joke) four times in the past year. But a tour with a UK post-hardcore outfit that relies greatly on electronics? Why not – the two have toured together in the past.

letlive. – two left feet [instrumental] (2012)

ll. puts up a grimey, dirty ass, bass heavy instrumental on their website and my body implodes. does this mean new music? a new ep? something?

EDIT: they’ve since changed the instrumental and it’s more lyrics from “muther,” so i’m gonna go ahead and shoot that theory down.

but according to their comments, a new video for “muther” is dropping tuesday.

while in europe, the band shot various footage of them running through the streets, trollin’ vendors and patrons of the road alike, and eventually found themselves on the energetic stage that they perform on. sounds pretty stupid, right? letlive. makes it work and reminded me to listen to fake history…again.

video: letlive. – to the stage [rock sound feature] (2011)

[vodpod id=Video.15358951&w=425&h=350&fv=]

i can’t get enough of this band. in this prolific ass clip, jason butler kind of introduces the band’s mentality when it comes to performing for a bit, before rock sound takes you on stage to see these frantic boys lose their shit with performances of “le prologue” right into “sick, sick…” – caught these guys live about a month ago, and it was no different. fake history is in stores now.
