on may 25/26th, chance performed two back to back sold out nights in his hometown of chicago to create a huge fuckin’ buzz in his name, as if it wasn’t already. throw on a direct support slot on a macklemore/ryan lewis world tour, and this excellent footage by austin vesely, and it’s been a pretty great week for chancellor.

show recap: alt-j + limb (march 10, 2013)

What could be nerdier than naming your band after a Mac keyboard command? How about letting loose your grip on your Fender Stratocaster to play … the casanets? And if those castanets were the percussive snap to your highly regarded single from your Mercury Prize winning debut album, well that would just be another day in the life of Cambridge four piece Alt-J, who brought the exploratory sounds of their lp An Awesome Wave to a sold-out Fitzgerald’s Sunday night.

Hit the jump for the full review.

watch: cassino – amelia [chalk TV]

these guys are so lowkey, it’s hard to remember they’re still active these days. cassino (ex-northstar) is still very much so alive, and recently performed out in chicago at a neat little venue called the tonic room. our friends at made of chalk were on hand to film it, and put together this wonderful clip.

watch: bad rabbits – can’t fool me [new song; live]

bad rabbits’ upcoming LP, american love, is definitely one of the albums i’m ancitipating most in 2013. after perfect singles in “we can roll” and “fall in love,” we get footage of a brand new single in “can’t fool me,” which might be better than both of em. it’ll be criminal if these guys don’t blow up this year.
