dustin harkins is quite the fellow. coming across him on the absolutepunk boards, he frequented the hip-hop round up i do weekly and very slyly threw in comments here and there, only to eventually drop his own mixtape on me. coming from denton, tx (outside of dallas) his rap name is simple and to the point, and mister o malley is a mixtape that uses other beats to explore his potential and work ethic to become successful, while touching base on his personal issues – including dealing with aspergers his whole life. and while this is an early sample of what type of artist he is, mister o’malley shows a lot of potential.

while this clip is of little significance other than a performance of his song “fuck you” at the finally famous tour in austin, i wanted to introduce you to doughbeezy. a houston rapper who has been quite busy this past year, releasing a handful of videos and a mixtape by the name of reggie bush & kool-aid. get familiar with the houston artist, as you’ll be hearing more of him on WWM in the near future.

these guys recently contacted me and used our good friend fat tony’s name to get my attention – well played! the lower class is a trio from san marcos, texas – and i think they’re onto something. their beats are layered and chock full of funky basslines and synth, their vocals are somewhere between a young lupe fiasco and ATCQ’s group-style rhymes and their lyrics are witty and packed with clever references. they’ve recently released a mixtape/album called flight of ideas, which you can download at bandcamp.
