the project that arcade fire and spike jonze were collaborating on has bolstered into a full-blown short film entitled scenes from the suburbs and will premiere next month at the berlin film festival. win butler described the project as a “science-fiction B-movie companion piece” to the band’s latest album.

in this short but emotional clip, set to the title song, a group or suburban ragtags on two-wheelers play out an picturesque adolescent summer, oblivious to the ever encroaching proximity of the military until their lives turn to sheer anarchy.

video: jay electronica – a million in the morning (2010)

i’ll take any new jay elec at this point. after reading this article at the smoking section, i became disenchanted with both blu and jay elec. the two have an undeniable potential that’s being wasted on 30345 interviews and a lot of reefer. a million in the making is a documentary/film of sorts (too lazy to research), but jay has taken the theme’s responsibilities into his own hands. someone was kind enough to rip the audio, so enjoy.

karen o and the kids – all is love (2009)

i know in internet terms of time, this is far from new. i kept seeing it, and kept spacing on posting. maybe i assumed sb would post it. or i was just drunk. whatever. anyway, the track is the lead single from the soundtrack for everyone’s most anticipated movie of ’09, where the wild things are. o also composed music for the rest of the soundtrack as well as co-produced it.

“all is love” seems like quite a powerful embodiment of the spirit of the movie. it was recorded with an untrained children’s choir and with assistance of “the kids”, which consists of yeah yeah yeah’s bandmates brian chase and nick zinner along with members of deerhunter, queens of the stone age, the racounteurs, liars, the bird and the bee, and more. definitely pleased with the results and looking forward to the rest of the soundtrack, as well as of course, the movie itself.

so the trailer for the movie is officially online, and everyone is about to get stoked and fall in love with this movie. as one of millions and millions of kids who loved this book to no end growing up, this will be one of the best films ever.
