The first round of the NBA Playoffs came to an end, but there’s plenty more basketball where that came from. The Semifinals is where you weed out the contenders from the pretenders and things start to get competitive. We’ll go through our predictions for the Semifinals, as well as recap the first round results. The NHL Playoffs continue to take shape, one of my (grizzly) favorite bands took care of the National Anthem, and much more in this week’s sports recap.
in tribute of the recent victims and the damaged properties left in hurricane sandy’s wake, the jersey boys in the gaslight anthem decided to make a video for the appropriate “national anthem,” from this year’s handwritten. sad stuff. visit to donate for sandy relief.
guys, the best video you’ll see all week is here. it’s on swag OD in this 7+ minute clip for lana del rey’s swt jam “national anthem.” in the clip, pretty flacko takes on the role of former president john f. kennedy, as lana steps in jackie o’s shoes. throw on the video equivalent of instagram filters, ASAP in his nantucket best and some sexual tension, and voila!
the oft-authentically-challanged lana del rey won’t have her highly anticipated album born to die out till the 31st of this month, but a demo version of one of the lp’s track has leaked online. take a listen to “national anthem” at the link below and drool over the pic above.
when this dude got announced in this year’s XXL top 10 freshman, i didn’t really give him a fair chance. i gotta say though, with the recent output, that’s definitely a ‘my bad’ type situation. gibbs is obviously talented and has a pretty mean flow, so i’ll definitely be tuning into his mixtape (which this song is taken from and drops this thursday) and his str8 killa EP which’ll drop on august 3rd. in the mean time, check the official video for ‘national anthem.’
that’s right folks. i figured instead of taking a minute to write up the recap and post the videos, i’d go ahead and take care of business first. there’s a lot of decent footage, as i made attempts to get the best footage i could under the circumstances of 1000 people bouncing and nonchalant hand-wavin. up top is the product of westside lu’ bringing out bun b to give the hometown crowd a special surprise. ok, so having bun b come out during any houston hip-hop show isn’t so much a surprise, but it’s still fucking crazy.
more lupe videos under the cut, including “national anthem,” “i gotcha,” “state crime radio,” “everybody nose” and “fighters.”
all of the b.o.b. videos under the cut as well, including “haters,” “on top of the world,” “no man’s land” and “voltage.”
