poop on a stick, folks! after 2004’s you’re a woman, i’m a machine, the world was left waiting for more distorted goodness from this canadian duo. good thing they’re back and playing shows again, as you can preview a few new songs from the group’s most recent show. second clip below the jump.
last night, gambino and company took to a secret location for a blogoteque-sponsored set. the set was unique and in a warehouse type setting, where gambino took the liberties of premiering four new songs for the crowd, all from his impending mixtape (tentatively titled royalty, tentatively dropping this week). watch one above and the other three videos at the youtube channel.
new thrice? don’t mind if i do! at a recent show this past saturday in santa ana, thrice premiered a trio of new songs aside from “anthology.” cannot wait to hear the studio recordings, considering the quality of these. major/minor is in stores on september 20th.
so fun.’s done with their follow-up to aim&ignite, which was my AOTY in 2009. will they 2-peat? probably not, but if these songs are any indication, they’ll be giving my top 10 a run for its collective money. “we are young” is below the jump.
what’s that? TWO new songs from the cryptic mantis? and this is a different scenario here. “ohm” finds nicholas greer on some studio production, writing hip-hop songs with verses from local emcees yung and franchise. “diamond in the ruff” is exactly that. greer gets his rhyme scheme on, flowing over some unorthodox production. both excellent.
panda bear’s not the only animal releasing new music this week. the collective collective of animals are playing a few show en route to coachella, and at a recent stop in petaluma, ca, the band unleashed an excess of nine, count ‘em, nine new songs on our unready ears. it’s been a good long 2 years since merriweather post pavillion and i don’t think anyone’s quite ready for that amount of weird. check out vids of the show from those fine folk at consequence of sound and download the full bootleg show below. ahhh, bootlegs.
big ups to fader, from whom i stole all this content from. someone they know was nice enough to compile/gather/record all this brand new shit from lykke li’s tour of the UK and put em all in one place. six new songs, folks. looks like her new record is gonna be pretty nice.
so this crazy broad is finished with her fame monster ball tour, yadda yadda. here are two live recordings of some new joints that’ll be on her next album, which has no release date as of now. i’m loving the piano-driven renditions of these, but who knows what bastardized form will end up on the actual record.
stereogum’s most desirable indie rock crush, panda bear wrapped up a european tour where he showcased some new, forthcoming material. go ahead and hit that link below to download an entire set consisting of said songs, as well as anco fave “daily routine”.
if more people gave my american heart a chance, the world would be a better place. i genuinely feel like they’re on of the more talented “scene” bands making music currently. get on these two new demos/tracks they’ve recorded during the writing process for their new album and see what i’m talking about.
