the week in sports: 3/19 – 3/25 (2012)

This year, we’re really looking to change a few things around these parts. I’m sure you’ve noticed the influx of sports posts around major events (Playoffs, big moves, etc.) but we’re looking to bring a whole different “arena” of content around here, and I’ve enlisted my always knowledgeable cousin (@thevhb, Vishal Bhatt) to do the dirty work. Each week, we hope to bring you a sports recap of sorts, running down the big events throughout prominent sports. You won’t find much World Series of Poker coverage here, but maybe you’ll dig the other stuff.

Hit the jump for the first installment, and look for these every Sunday, Monday or Tuesday.

news: peyton manning, colts part ways (2012)

as of tomorrow, the indianapolis colts will part ways with one of the greatest players of all time.

this was too huge not to post. as a texans fan, i have a pure, deep-seeded hatred for peyton manning and the torturous ten years he’s given us. but he’s the face of the colts franchise – and pretty much the face of indianapolis as a whole. how could you not respect this guy’s game? he’s quite funny, seems approachable and is just a hell of a QB. single-handedly, he’s built the franchise into what it is, and a lack of manning around lucas oil is going to send the colts straight into rebuilding for the next five years.

oh well, it’s our division for the next five years!
