my dude fat tony and his camp just put together this hilarious new music video that i’ve watched three times in a row. his dj, ipod ammo stars in a hallucination-centric visual for the lead-off cut from rabdargab, which all of you should’ve grabbed by now.

fat tony’s getting ready to roll out of houston and hit the east coast for a handful of dates. if you live in any of these cities, be sure to hit up these tour dates and tell em weworemasks sent you. he might let you download his album for free or something awesome like that. anthony obi (fat tony) has been a good friend to weworemasks for quite some time, and during a conversation with him today, we concluded that i was basically an asshole for not having reviewed his debut album. i mean he didn’t say it or anything, but i certainly felt it. that being said, i dedicated a good chunk of my evening listening to his debut LP and writing this review.
if you’re from houston, he’ll be hosting a CD release party at the mink on november 26th, and soon after, will be hosting the second annual black christmas event. so, we had so much fun doing this the first time with the niceguys (sidebar, ya’ll), that we decided to do it for one more go-around with our homie fat tony. he’s fresh off the release of his brand new album, RABDARGAB, and he’s ready to make some big moves in 2010, onward into 2011.
so for about half an hour (more or less), i sat down on AIM with tony to speak about all the successes and hardships he’s had going into the release of this album, as well as his future plans and current joys, among many other things. hit the jump and get to know tony a bit more.

so this is a big day for my man fat tony. after years of blood, sweat and booze, the release of his debut LP is finally here. and i mean, anthony’s good people, so he’s giving away his first born for free to all current, new and future fans. so what’s next for tony? he’s hitting CMJ, gonna promote the hell out of this album and probably continue to play 100 shows a year. the guy works hard, and this was his endgame for phase I. the album is produced entirely by friend and partner in crime, tom cruz, and has features from a handful of local talent as well as murs and bo p.
in the .zip file, you’ll find thorough liner notes. i’m talking so thorough, that you can find yourself an empty case and make it look like you bought this beast at your record store. and for those of you wondering as to what the hell “rabdargab” is, you would probably have to be in houston. if not, look no further than this PSA.

in case you needed a refresher, fat tony is a good friend of ours who’s been working on his album, rabdargab, for quite some time. maybe the wait got too long for both him and his fans, because before the album, we have a mixtape that’ll serve as the appetizer to the final project. in case you needed a refresher on tony, look no further.
