i’ve been a huge fan of all three of this band’s albums, no matter how drastic the departure from the previous album. that being said, the group has started an “official” twitter, where they all but tell you they’re reunited. they’re asking band friends to give them a RT and spread the word for an impending announcement come september 9th. not only that, their avatar boasts the cover of the debut record, son i loved you at your darkest, which happens to be my personal favorite.
is tj coming back? are they touring? new album? either way, stay tuned and get excited.
follow as cities burn on twitter.

This interview was easily one of the greatest things to happen to this blog. There’s always that one band who you loved unconditionally through all of their releases and shows, even if everyone else didn’t. As a collective, we’re all fans of Gatsbys American Dream and had all had our own memories of the band long before we started weworemasks and even longer before we became friends. After seeing two reunion shows at this year’s SXSW festival, we made sure to get our contacts in order to make this interview happen.
In the 20 minute interview we had on the phone, singer Nic Newsham and I discussed the reunion shows, among other things, which include their future musical endeavors with GAD, as well as who’s releasing the album and of course, Nic’s perspective on the music industry. Hit the jump and read the interview. Follow em on twitter and lets get excited about rock music again.
Edit: I just realized, I met Panda and Sunbear for the first time at two different GAD shows. Panda was at an As Cities Burn/Gym Class/GAD tour, and Sunbear was at the Starting Line/GAD tour. Insanity. Nostalgia doesn’t get any cooler than that, folks.

welcome back, gentleman. here is the band’s first ever performance from the reunion show. sorry the footage ain’t hot, but i was using a point and shoot to capture this. also, it was loud as eff in there. hit the jump to see the video for “recondition. reprogram. reactivate.” as well.

while we wait on sunbear for the impending doom that is sure to follow the fun fun fun fest coverage (photos and day 1/day2 recaps on the way), here’s a neat little clip. after a decade of inactivity, pop-punk kings the descendants reunited for a packed crowd in austin’s waterloo park. thanks to this guy, we have some high quality, voyeur footage from the historic occasion.

amidst all these bands i couldn’t care less about reuniting (see: rufio, yellowcard) comes news of one of the best band’s longed for reunion: gatsbys american dream. made official by means of an official twitter account and countless twitpics, twitvids and other things of that nature on said account, we were able to get that news from seattle’s best. this band consistently put out some of the best records that ever came from that huuuuuuuge “scene” wave in 2000-2005. and i think i speak for all of the bears when i say, “thanks, and welcome back.” oh and visit their brand new myspace.
i’m really gonna need that tour to support 2005′s self-titled pronto.
i am a grizzly, and i’ll hurt you all.

so i’m sure if you’re a fan (or even if you hate em) you remember hearing that the OG lineup of TBS reunited again. what could’ve been a reunion tour to end all reunion tours for stupid 21-26 year old ex-”emo kid” ex-jelly bracelet, “band shirts only!” wearing assholes like myself circa 2001 to pee their pants over is now going to be a new album. i’m sure i’m in the minority for liking a bulk of new again, and with that being said – i do NOT want a new album. do a US tour and play TAYF from start to finish and throw in b-sides for good measure, and you have the best 45 minute set to come out of this absolutepunk scene in years.
but nooooo, y’all wanna be creative and “do this for yourselves.” how selfish, taking back sunday. this is for the kids! and by the way, this new song sounds like something off of new again, yet most people will ignore the fact and love it due to the simple fact that john and shaun have returned.

brett detar, the genius behind the juliana theory, has come out from a musical hiatus in regards to new musical projects and news in regards to the juliana theory. the band’s website has been updated, and detar has joined/spread news on facebook, myspace, and twitter. expect more announcements in the coming weeks.
also to celebrate, let’s revisit grizzly’s juliana theory post on emotion is dead.

i’m sure kelly kapowski was many of ya’ll’s first crush, so you’ll enjoy this. tiffani amber theissen addresses the rumors of the saved by the bell cast reunion on late night with jimmy fallon. i won’t ruin anything, but it’s pretty funny.

okay. let’s be blatant: grade were an emo/hardcore punk outfit. associate any connotations you want with those labels, i don’t care. under the radar is an absolute classic, if not criminally underrated album. seven years after their breakup, the band is back in the studio recording tracks for at both ends magazine’s final issue. here’s to hoping the band decides to continue making more music in the future as grade.

i’m not going to pretend i’m too cool or too old to care that blink is back together cause in truth, i’m as giddy as a japanese school girl in regards to this reunion. the trio hit up leno as part of a two night stay on the tonight show to perform their take off your pants and jacket single ‘ the rock show’.
also word is that tickets for their tour will be a mere $20. well they’re just the band that keeps on giving, aren’t they?

i have very little hope in the fact that the bears will get to witness one of the reunion shows at sxsw, but the animal kingdom can only wish. also, go here and…well, yeah.
