on june 15, n.e.r.d. will drop their fourth studio LP, nothing. pharrell has gone on to say in several interviews that it won’t be anything like we’ve heard from their camp, and judging off this song, i’d say he wasn’t too far off. it almost seems as a transitional joint that’ll take us into some weird shit. catchy track with a ridiculously groovy bassline (that he’ll mention about 4 seconds after you notice it) with a nelly furtado guest spot. i’ve also thrown in the final version of ‘soldier,’ which we posted about a while back.

the talking heads luminary is releasing an album with the one and only fatboy slim. it’s called here lies love, is due out feb 23, and is a concept album about the philippine’s first lady imelda marcos. so naturally i’m racially obligated to express a deep love for that very idea. “please don’t” features santigold on vocals and is our first taste of what is sure to be a high-concept masterpiece.

i mean, the old n.e.r.d. records pale in comparison as far as energy is concerned. this song is pretty much the closest to punk rock that the crew has ever gotten. pharrell straight spazzes the hell out on this song.
and is it me or will this song’s stock go up 500% if they kicked santi off? those ad-libs are atrocious and annoying.

AW SHIT NOW. aoki turns it up to 11 and absolutely murders the cut. i know it’s monday, but i promise if you put this on, it’ll feel like friday night (after 4 shots of patron and 3 lines of columbia’s finest blow). just be careful, the stranger you find yourself grinding on when you’re listening to this on the subway might not be as happy as they would be if you were grinding on them in a club.
