look at the screenshot. now i’m sure you’re wondering a. why this video is on hulu b. why danny pudi (aka ‘abed’ from community) is on it. well, watching the video will find a young pudi strutting down streets and through shops buying things he can’t afford.
the endlessly-talented raphael saadiq drops his latest music video venture from stone rollin, which he holds “personally close” to his heart. for an added bonus, hit the jump of “movin’ down the line” from the aol/spinner sessions as well.
stone rollin’ is in stores now.
the ever-awesome mr. saadiq is finally dropping his follow up to the way i see it this tuesday, but npr has the exclusive first listen of the album. head over to the site and stream the whole record.
raphael saadiq – stone rollin [full album stream]
peep the latest installment of npr’s world cafe series for a 3-song performance of raphael saadiq, rounded out with an interview. stone rollin’ is out on may 10th – aka what seems like the most jam-packed released date in quite some time.
phenomenal. raphael sits down with the pinboard blog for an acoustic version of his stone rollin single, and the results are of the most suave. stone rollin’ hits stores in may.
am i wrong to think that this version is better than the album?
hot damn i said hot damn. stone rollin’ drops may 10th. also, i missed posting about this jam being performed on leno, so hit the cut for that video.
i swear, may 10th just can’t get here soon enough. with a guaranteed album of the year contender on his hands, raphael saadiq gives us a little background (and a lot of style) on his upcoming album. dig it.
“the game ain’t in me no more. whatever makes you flow the way you flow, it ain’t in me.”
thought i’d throw in a wire quote from cutty seeing as how he’s the star of saadiq’s new video for the superb “good man.” and much like he did on the wire, his character’s gettin’ the short end of the stick. stone rollin’ needs to hurry the f up.
stone rollin’ is already shaping up to be one of 2011’s best records. “good man” is a more back-to-basics approach for saadiq, as “radio” was definitely more rockin. the hook bodes well for the working man.
raphael saadiq – good man
late pass/forgot to post. entertaining visuals for the first jam from mr. saadiq’s upcoming album. i’m really loving that saadiq is experimenting with other decades/influences and tying it into the soul-based sound he perfected on his last album. late ’50s/early ’60s surf riff in full effect.
raphael saadiq – radio.
sweet, sweet day that is new music from raphael saadiq. looks like we’ve got our first taste from a best of contender. mr. tone is going to be following up his criminally underrated 2008 LP with a new record set to drop this march entitled stone rollin’. color this bear beyond excited.
