listen: vinnie caruana – somehow the world keeps turning

oh, lawd yes. vinnie has yet to be a part of any project or release that i don’t like, and it looks like his newly announced solo EP is headed for a similar fate. “somehow the world keeps turning” is an acoustic affair and will land on city by the sea, which is set to drop on february 5th.

preorders are up here.

the cover art for the EP can be seen (in the video) here

stream: blink-182 – dogs eating dogs EP (2012)

blink-182′s follow-up to neighborhoods is here, in a shiny new digital ep. upon first listen, it’s obvious that these guys needed to get back in a room together to make music that makes more sense, especially after that disjointed mess that was neighborhoods. a step in the right direction, and you can stream the whole thing at AP. oh and it dropped today.

stream: meek mill – maybach curtains [feat. rick ross, nas and john legend] (2012)

in the veins of his boss’ label and maybach music 1-4 tracks comes “maybach curtains,” a high powered collaboration with plenty of big names and lush production to go around the entire label. and we’re all better for it, as the horns do a good number behind john legend’s soulful hook and a nasty (sorry) verse from nas.

album drops october 30th.

stream: coheed & cambria – the afterman (2012)

rolling stone just premiered coheed and cambria’s downtrodden and pacing title track from their upcoming record, the afterman. part I: the ascension, will be out october 9th, and “the afterman” is just one of nine tracks from the record. listen below – it’s probably not what you’re expecting after “domino: the destitute.”

stream: tegan and sara – closer (2012)

while the twinsies’ new record doesn’t hit retail until january 2013, they thought it would be a good idea to premiere a single f’n 3.5 months early to build anticipation. after the excellent sainthood, i’m looking forward to whatever these ladies have on deck for us. a few more electronics than i hope for, but still vintage T+S in the vocal department.

stream: david guetta – every chance we get, we run [feat. tegan & sara] (2012)

i could stand to give two shits about david guetta, but it was very nice to see this on the blogs i stole this from. tegan and sara, on a guetta track? also, this song was semi tailor-made for the pair (aside from the obvious electronic breaks in the hooks), and i look forward to seeing this blow up a bit.

stream: lupe fiasco – lamborghini angels (2012)

hey lupe: good shit, man. it feels good to say this, finally. no cheesy hooks (this is the new “words i never said” without that abysmal skylar grey), a dope beat, tongue in cheek pop culture commentary, some screw influence, and just bars on bars. prior to dropping this single, “lamborghini angels” got itself a disclaimer:

WARNING: If you are easily offended or religiously sensitive DO NOT listen to #LamborghiniAngels it contains very strong subject matter.

and uh… yeah. welcome back, lu. food & liquor II is out september 25th.
