stream/buy: american gospel – tall tales vol. I (2012)

while there’s a lot more to say about american gospel other than the singer is from the republic of wolves/”the guy from a band i don’t listen to much,” the band has just released their debut LP tall tales volume one for public consumption. whether physical copies are bought or bandcamp, it matters not. the rich and textured songs i’ve heard thus far are setting it up to be quite the compelling record. here’s where they’re selling the physical.

video: tegan and sara – get along [dvd stream; us only] (2012)

tegan and sara launched a pretty cool dvd last year — one that included a lengthy documentary, as well as an intimate and acoustic set from the twin sister tandem. well, if you have a netflix account, it has now been added to the instant stream library, so hop to. if you don’t have an account, you can msg me on myspace and i’ll give you the password there.

stream: bobby womack – the bravest man in the universe (2012)

[vodpod id=Video.16453257&w=425&h=350&fv=%26rel%3D0%26border%3D0%26]

i’m honestly a little torn here. on the one hand, it’s so, so amazing to hear one of my favorite artists of all times’ voice again, especially working with damon albarn. on the other hand, it really does sound simply like bobby womack singing over a gorillaz track (which don’t get me wrong, can in no way be a bad thing, but when it comes to solo material…). either way, it’s good to hear mr. womack back at it, and my interest is peaked for his upcoming album of the same name, out june 12th via XL recordings.

stream: nelly furtado – big hoops (2012)

[vodpod id=Video.16400068&w=425&h=350&fv=]

let’s be honest, it’s been over five years since we’ve heard new material from the new (still hot) mom, nelly furtado. her album loose dominated the radio, night club, girls lives when it came out, and i’m hoping her new album is going to be full of that infectious pop from loose. the spirit indestructible drops june 19th, and weworemasks cred will too.

[vodpod id=Video.16314312&w=425&h=350&fv=%26rel%3D0%26border%3D0%26]

on paper trail, he wanted you to live your life. in a few months when trouble man drops, t.i. is all about loving the life. or some bullshit like that. a youtube commenter said “t.i. is on his nelly shit!!!” and he couldn’t possibly be more accurate.

stream: childish gambino – eat your vegetables (2012)

with no warning, donald glover/d-money/childish gambino drops a new song this morning. and with topical references to things that happened over the weekend, it’s obvious he was probably in the studio last night and unleashed a stream immediately.

[vodpod id=Video.16182718&w=425&h=350&fv=%26rel%3D0%26border%3D0%26]

again, shout out to BWC on the heads up. and i’m with him — 3 songs is enough to warrant a mini-EP of sorts, but it looks like all of these previews are leading up to any form of release. no matter – all of the songs have been great so far, and “rebel’s war” is no different.
