video: taking back sunday – you got me (2011)

7 11 2011

TBS’ new/old incarnation decided on “you got me” as a second single for their self-titled record, and have just dropped the video for it. i was personally hoping for “best places to be a mom,” but this is a good’un. even if you hate the band now – if you can’t smile to the eddie reyes spotlight, you’re dead to me.

video: taking back sunday – nervous energies sessions (2011)

25 07 2011

i don’t actually know who or what nervous energies is, but they managed to capture some great footage of adam and john of tbs performing acoustic. up top is “faith”, and after the jump you can watch em do “sad savior”. apparently there’s a third video that will drop wednesday of a tom petty cover, so get stoked for that.

show recap: taking back sunday/thursday (july 4, 2011)

5 07 2011

Houston isn’t one to get too many ‘holiday’ shows. So an Independence Day with two bands I grew up listening to, a little beer and a solid round of company seemed like the perfect blend of circumstances to have a good time. Taking Back Sunday is newly reformed, with the original lineup of the days of 2002, which was clear and away one of the most crucial reasons the folks in attendance were there to begin with.

video: taking back sunday – kroq acoustic sessions (2011)

4 07 2011

in honor of seeing taking back sunday tonight (july 4th), i’m throwing up this acoustic video of adam and john being awesome, playing two songs from the newly released self-titled record, as well as “your own distaster.”

watch the other two videos here.

21 06 2011

so after all the lineup changes and great albums that no one liked, taking back sunday is back together with the lineup that everyone loved on tell all your friends. there’s a catch though – this sounds nothing like tell all your friends, which personally makes me happy. i’m glad they’re progressing musically and the enjoyment factor on this album is still very high.

head to their facebook where you can stream 3 songs + a new one every hour until about 6 p.m. where you can probably hear the whole thing. all you have to do is ‘like’ it. the album comes out june 28th.

29 05 2011

new album’s dropping june 28th, which i just found out now. really looking forward to seeing what this new old band works with this time around. hoping for it to being like ‘new again’ and all the old time fans say it’s awesome. that way, i can say ‘i told you so.’

video: taking back sunday – great romances of the 20th century [acoustic] (2011)

24 05 2011

hell yes. it’s been a while since i’ve heard this song. john and adam team up for a punktastic session (stupid name, i know) to perform an acoustic rendition of one of every emo kid’s favorite songs.

video: taking back sunday – faith (when i let you down)

7 05 2011

this is a great song, i gotta say. much better than that awful el paso joint (i know panda like it, i beg to differ.) this one is built with a montage of bamboozle performance footage, as well as clips of the band in the studio.

taking back sunday – best places to be a mom [demo] (2010)

16 11 2010

well, well, well. the new incarnation of TBS is here…and it sounds like the previous incarnation. no complaints here, as i did in fact enjoy new again and am definitely digging this rough (but pretty solid quality) demo. but i swear, people will eat this shit up for the sole fact that nolan is on bored and start loving TBS again. silly bishes.

video: taking back sunday – in the studio (2010)

15 10 2010

i’ve always looked forward to new shit from TBS. i’m a fan of every single album, but i gotta say that this is the least i’ve ever anticipated a TBS album. i know, i know. the original lineup. it all just feels like a cop out to me and unless they were going to do a full US tour, i wasn’t completely invested in giving a shit. i’ll probably still like the record, though.

review: taking back sunday – live from orensanz [CD/DVD] (2010)

29 08 2010

a good friend of mine got a hold of this album for me, and it’s my duty to review it. i always thought about doing a review for this just because…why not, right? regardless, TBS has reformed with their original lineup and has ostracized the lineup that’s featured on this monster, so this will be the last you’ll hear of matt fazzi and matt rubano when it comes to taking back sunday. in the meantime, check out the review + videos below the jump.

6 08 2010

between the sound of this video and the promo clip that’s around, it seems like the tbs boys (of this era) did an amazing job of translating these songs for this performance. everything is pure win visually as well. will cop. pre-order here.

terrible things – wrap me up (2010)

12 07 2010

be still, my ’04 heart! if the picture wasn’t enough to give away the excitement of former emos everywhere, terrible things is a 3-piece composed of andy jackson (formerly of hot rod circuit), fred mascherino (formerly of taking back sunday) and josh eppard (formerly of coheed and cambria) and they’ve got a new song “wrap me up” and interview over on absolutepunk.net. the greatest site in the world. after all, it did bring us three bears together.

video: taking back sunday – studio ish (2010)

12 04 2010

so i’m sure if you’re a fan (or even if you hate em) you remember hearing that the OG lineup of TBS reunited again. what could’ve been a reunion tour to end all reunion tours for stupid 21-26 year old ex-”emo kid” ex-jelly bracelet, “band shirts only!” wearing assholes like myself circa 2001 to pee their pants over is now going to be a new album. i’m sure i’m in the minority for liking a bulk of new again, and with that being said – i do NOT want a new album. do a US tour and play TAYF from start to finish and throw in b-sides for good measure, and you have the best 45 minute set to come out of this absolutepunk scene in years.

but nooooo, y’all wanna be creative and “do this for yourselves.” how selfish, taking back sunday. this is for the kids! and by the way, this new song sounds like something off of new again, yet most people will ignore the fact and love it due to the simple fact that john and shaun have returned.
