taking back sunday – best places to be a mom [demo] (2010)

well, well, well. the new incarnation of TBS is here…and it sounds like the previous incarnation. no complaints here, as i did in fact enjoy new again and am definitely digging this rough (but pretty solid quality) demo. but i swear, people will eat this shit up for the sole fact that nolan is on bored and start loving TBS again. silly bishes.

video: taking back sunday – in the studio (2010)

i’ve always looked forward to new shit from TBS. i’m a fan of every single album, but i gotta say that this is the least i’ve ever anticipated a TBS album. i know, i know. the original lineup. it all just feels like a cop out to me and unless they were going to do a full US tour, i wasn’t completely invested in giving a shit. i’ll probably still like the record, though.

review: taking back sunday – live from orensanz [CD/DVD] (2010)

a good friend of mine got a hold of this album for me, and it’s my duty to review it. i always thought about doing a review for this just because…why not, right? regardless, TBS has reformed with their original lineup and has ostracized the lineup that’s featured on this monster, so this will be the last you’ll hear of matt fazzi and matt rubano when it comes to taking back sunday. in the meantime, check out the review + videos below the jump.

between the sound of this video and the promo clip that’s around, it seems like the tbs boys (of this era) did an amazing job of translating these songs for this performance. everything is pure win visually as well. will cop. pre-order here.

terrible things – wrap me up (2010)

be still, my ’04 heart! if the picture wasn’t enough to give away the excitement of former emos everywhere, terrible things is a 3-piece composed of andy jackson (formerly of hot rod circuit), fred mascherino (formerly of taking back sunday) and josh eppard (formerly of coheed and cambria) and they’ve got a new song “wrap me up” and interview over on absolutepunk.net. the greatest site in the world. after all, it did bring us three bears together.

so i’m sure if you’re a fan (or even if you hate em) you remember hearing that the OG lineup of TBS reunited again. what could’ve been a reunion tour to end all reunion tours for stupid 21-26 year old ex-”emo kid” ex-jelly bracelet, “band shirts only!” wearing assholes like myself circa 2001 to pee their pants over is now going to be a new album. i’m sure i’m in the minority for liking a bulk of new again, and with that being said – i do NOT want a new album. do a US tour and play TAYF from start to finish and throw in b-sides for good measure, and you have the best 45 minute set to come out of this absolutepunk scene in years.

but nooooo, y’all wanna be creative and “do this for yourselves.” how selfish, taking back sunday. this is for the kids! and by the way, this new song sounds like something off of new again, yet most people will ignore the fact and love it due to the simple fact that john and shaun have returned.

show recap: taking back sunday (november 30, 2009)

in true bear fashion comes a show recap over two weeks after the fact. what can i say? i have a full time job that doesn’t allow me access to photo editing sites or mp3 sites because it’s owned by a bank, rendering me nearly useless to blog in the day. i mean, if i can’t blog at work, then why am i living in america? nonetheless, here we go.

as far as my generation goes, taking back sunday is the band that i would give my vote to for being the band that everyone has either liked, loved or quoted in their aim profile at some point in their life. i personally have liked something about each of their records (hey, even new again!) and think they are one of the mainstream’s best alternative rock bands, however uncool it may be in 2009.

hit the jump for the recap.

album review: taking back sunday – new again (2009)

ahh, taking back sunday. the band that most people just love to hate. they’ve just released their fourth studio album, new again. it did pretty well in it’s first week sales, considering the record sales situation. i think this album is a great addition to their discography (louder now being the only misstep) and definitely deserves your listen.

it’s one of the better rock albums i’ve heard in a while. there isn’t much else to say, so hit the jump for the review and a download of the bonus tracks for new again.

every album besides TAYF sucked, fred sucked, john nolan rules, fazzi sucks, overproduced, they suck, blablabla.

pretty good performance. love the little group of handclappers/hey! guys. adam’s iffy on some parts, but he’s always been. i’m a huge fan of the new album, so eat it. new again’s out today. if i wasn’t poor, i’d be copping.

stream: taking back sunday – everything must go (2009)

this song fucking rules. and i’m with jerome, no care and no understanding ever for all the tbs hate post-tell all your friends. new again will be a solid album, and probably much better than louder now (which i’ll admit to being a bit weak.) this is probably the best new song i’ve heard off the album, for what it’s worth.

stream “everything must go” on taking back sunday’s myspace.

p.s. is it me or did eddie get super jacked on roids? dude’s lookin’ like a club bouncer.

i really couldn’t possibly care less what anyone thinks when it comes to taking back sunday. of course tell all your friends will always be everyone’s favorite album.. but to say the band haven’t gotten better since that album is just stupidity for the sake of nostalgia. personally, i’m excited about the new album.
