lupe fiasco – i’m beamin [remix; f. all city chess club] (2010)

this was announced a loooong time ago and now it’s finally here. for those of you wondering about the order of this cypher-minded remix, it goes:

asher roth, charles hamilton, lupe fiasco, the cool kids, blu, diggy, dosage and b.o.b. i guess wale and j.cole didn’t make it? they were easily 2 of my top 3 most anticipated, but i’ll take a new blu verse when i can.

video: travis barker – jump down [f. the cool kids] (2010)

barker wants us to give the drummer some, while the video for this video purposely pays tribute to the great west-coast-chillin-out-maxin-relaxin-all-cool videos of the 90s. and nothin’ but a beach thang baaaaby.

too bad it’s october.

travis barker – jump down [ft. the cool kids] (2010)

mr. barker drops the first single from his upcoming solo lp, give the drummer some. this literally sounds exactly like what you’d expect a cool kids/travis collab to sound like minus travis doing anything too showy on the drums. overall a nice effort though that should definitely gain interest in what else travis has up his sleeve for the album.

video: mikey rocks – foreign features (2010)

this definitely isn’t the track you’d expect from a cool kids solo track. mikey rocks (or sir michael rocks, as he refers to himself here) boasts a brand new look full of impalas and weed. and a really nice beat. looks like someone took hanging with currensy to heart. looking forward to hearing more of this.

video: the cool kids – gold links (2010)

even though i feel the novelty of the cool kids has long since worn off, it doesn’t take away for their knack of minimalistic beats that shake your trunk, and it doesn’t take away from the witty rhymes this duo has always been able to come up. mikey and chuck are back on their gold chain shit with this one.

off of the recently released tacklebox, which can be downloaded here.

the cool kids – freak city (2010)

looks like we have a new cool kids mixtape on our hands. up top, we have a video explaining the new track, and the new mixtape tacklebox, which is set to drop tomorrow night. don’t act like you, your hipster friend, your scenester friend, your hip hop friend, and your mom aren’t all equally excited.

video: the cool kids – action figures [unofficial] (2009)

unofficial or not, this is a very cool clip for what’s more than likely my favorite cool kids joint. often overlooked, too. the concept is fairly obvious and literal, but very well executed and enjoyable. props to this guy for putting the video together.

photo recap: fun fun fun fest [day one] (2009)

so we’re finally getting to the fun fun fun fest material. you know us, we’re lazy and very prone to procrastination. i mean c’mon, we have jobs and vodka to tend to. we ended up not being able to make it into the festival until 4:30, so we missed about 4 and a half hours of opening bands which included the likes of vega, young widows and russian circles, which was a definite bummer – but goes hand in hand with festival antics and hustle. the recap’s are coming soon, folks. for now, here’s a recap of day one’s events via sunbear’s camera lens.

hit the jump for photos of no age, neon indian, yeasayer, the cool kids and les savy fav.
