listen: dizzee rascal – htown [feat. bun b and trae the truth; prod. by a-trak]

well, this is cool. dizzee rascal is nowhere near houston, but the british grime rapper enlisted some of h-town’s finest, as well as a-trak behind the boards, to put out his own ode to our wonderful hometown.

the game – rollin [feat. kanye west, trae the truth, paul wall, slim thug and z-ro] (2012)

what a look for houston, huh? for today’s “sunday service,” game serves up another jesus piece throwaway. don’t take it the wrong way, the samples couldn’t get cleared in time. but he gets yeezy for a big time feature, and strings along some of houston’s finest. where the hell is uncle bun?

video: trae the truth – i’m from texas [f. bun b, slim thug, paul wall, more] (2012)

trae the truth does houston a big ol’ solid and throws everyone who means something (except kirko, sans scarface) in the houston rap explosion onto a track together. “i’m from texas” is loud and proud, and we now have a music video.

all credits on the track: trae, bun b, slim thug, paul wall, kirko bangz & z-ro.

video: trae the truth – i’m on 2.0 [f. everybody] (2012)

Get More: www.mtvu.com

the song featuring everybody (seriously, just look it up) gets a visual, and the following artists came through for the video: big K.R.I.T., jadakiss, j. cole, kendrick lamar, b.o.b, tyga, gudda gudda and bun b.

trae the truth – i’m on 2.0 [f. big krit, b.o.b., kendrick lamar, j. cole + more] (2012)

you’d think that’d be enough, but trae gets his “racks” remix on with four more guests than the ones mentioned: tyga, jadakiss, gudda gudda (lol) and king bun b.

and did i mention the best thing about this song? RETURN OF THE MACK IS SAMPLED.

trae the truth & z-ro – r.i.p. (2011)

i remember “assholes by nature” – the duo these two formed a few years back. i kinda liked most of that city, but aside from everything else, z-ro wrote “mo city don,” which is probably the greatest song to ever come out of houston. this cut definitely takes it back.

trae the truth – bad don’t seem so wrong [f. lupe fiasco] (2010)

never was big on trae, but the beat/samples come correct, and lu’s verse is definitely noteworthy, albeit a tad forgettable due to the rest of the song. off of trae’s upcoming tape, can’t ban the truth.

video: trae the truth – inkredible [f. lil wayne and rick ross] (2010)

you know, trae the truth is a respected emcee from houston, but seeing as how i’m completely oblivious to most “old school” houston rappers (save for z-ro and scarface), i’ve never given most of them a chance. this video is nothing to write home about, but i can get with the song.

it’s worth checking out because:

-weezy’s bar about singer/songwriter seal
-weezy’s bar about rosa parks (bad look)
-rick ross calling his dick a boss
-rick ross trying to move
