in all honesty, this might be one of the best videos i’ve seen in a looooooooooooooooong time. premise: steel train visits an estranged late night host who’s sole purpose is to be a terrible host and all around messy drunk. you catch a few golden glimpses into the world of ‘al scalzo’ and members of steel train as a part of the crew. when it’s time for the musical performance, a bunch of cute little kids play the role of steel train, and manage to rock just as hard.
also, the boys are gonna be heading out on tour with yo gabba gabba before their stint with fun. on their headlining tour. check the dates below the cut.

steel train’s getting ready to release their follow-up to 2007′s trampoline next week, and packaged with the self-titled record will be terrible thrills vol. I, a collection of songs by artists and friends of the bands’ own interpretations of songs from the new record. here we have the first release from said album. tegan and sara took the steel trains out on tour with them in early 2010, so what better way to show em love then to join forces with the remix artist collective and knock out ‘turnpike ghost.’ i’m diggin’ it. stream it below the jump.

here it is, folks. our first video interview here at weworemasks. i’m no video editor, so please bare with the choppiness of it. we promise to make our future videos much more concise and sexy. many thanks to the steel train crew for being such good sports about our amateur voyeurism (yeah, i went there) and even more thanks to sunbear for being a trooper and standing in front of a camera for fifteen minutes. also, thanks to myself for pretending to have the patience to sit here and edit this video using cheap software.
steel train is currently on a nationwide tour with everyone’s favorite canadian twin sisters, tegan and sara. they’re more than likely playing to over 1,000 people a night, which is mighty impressive considering this band was opening for finch and from autumn to ashes a mere six years ago. in the interview, the band discusses everything from singing the praises of their current tourmates to sxsw to talking about their upcoming record which will undoubtedly turn heads.

wow! those steel train fellows are a continually evolving band. from their first ep, full of revivalist folk rock, to their most recent album trampoline which drew comparison to the arcade fire, they now have a new song for you to hear, coinciding with their newly kicked-off tour with le sisters tegan and sara. “turnpike ghost” is quite possibly the most frantic song the new jersey band have written yet, and certainly the most adventurous. finger’s crossed that it’s a sign of things to come from the steel trains. stream it over on spin.com.
