the pitchfork folk sat down with hyperrealist director spike jonze following a screening of where the wild things are to discuss his approach to the classic children’s tale, working with author maurice sendak, and the method of carrying the childlike emotions of his personal being to that of the monster-king protagonist of the film.

i know in internet terms of time, this is far from new. i kept seeing it, and kept spacing on posting. maybe i assumed sb would post it. or i was just drunk. whatever. anyway, the track is the lead single from the soundtrack for everyone’s most anticipated movie of ’09, where the wild things are. o also composed music for the rest of the soundtrack as well as co-produced it.
“all is love” seems like quite a powerful embodiment of the spirit of the movie. it was recorded with an untrained children’s choir and with assistance of “the kids”, which consists of yeah yeah yeah’s bandmates brian chase and nick zinner along with members of deerhunter, queens of the stone age, the racounteurs, liars, the bird and the bee, and more. definitely pleased with the results and looking forward to the rest of the soundtrack, as well as of course, the movie itself.

here comes an even newer trailer for the maurice sendak classic. i can hardly contain my excitement for this movie. in theaters october 16.

so the trailer for the movie is officially online, and everyone is about to get stoked and fall in love with this movie. as one of millions and millions of kids who loved this book to no end growing up, this will be one of the best films ever.
