these gothic in-studio videos that the lykke li camp have been churning out have all geen gold. filled to the brim with some intense gazing, candelabras, and what is possibly the sexiest and most abrupt walk-off i’ve ever seen, check out “youth knows no pain,” up above.
wounded rhymes is out now.
lykke li literally haunted the chapel on her performance of wounded rhymes closer “silent my song” on last night’s the late show with david letterman. dressed neck-high in gothic black and performing against a backdrop of stained glass windows, both dave and paul agreed unanimously: “haunting!”
the best part? lykke’s infantine “thank you” to dave after soul-gripping performance. catch the clip at the link below courtesy of consequence of sound.
lykke li – silent my song [live on letterman]
lykke and leno link up (yall like that alliteration?) for a late night performance of the fantastic cut from wounded rhymes. and she’s really awesome at everything, per usual.
for this dimly lit clip, lykke li, with a little help from the wildbirds & peacedrums, performs a haunting version of wounded rhymes track “jerome.” just three lovely ladies, with lovely voices, all fighting for the title of ‘most intense eyebrows.’ enjoy.
the lovely lykke li stops by the npr studios to perform 3 songs off of her 2011 release, wounded rhymes. i could’ve sworn she did one of these sessions already…but alas.

los angeles is celebrating ‘lykke li week’ according to the kcrw dj, who has with him, in-studio, the lady of the week, to perform the majority of her album wounded rhymes (out now) in an acoustic, and intimate setting, as well as make some neat faces in-between songs and rock some mean leather. catch the set at the link below.
lykke li – live on kcrw presents
and the lykke clips keep on rolling. here’s another official music video from “wounded rhymes.” quite the endearing one, as one could only hope for ms. li to break out in dance after getting quickly intoxicated at a restaurant on a date with an old man.
ms. li has been sustaining some tour cancellation-worthy injuries as of late – she explains in a blog post:
“I had some kind of complete meltdown on Marks&Spencer in Glasgow on one of those very rare days off while on route….I was standing at an isle contemplating life and death and the struggles of being an artist/soul/woman/human being when the overbearingness sneaked up on me like Batman himself. I fell to the floor and so did the raspberries I had in my hand, the troubled breathing lead to some severe lumbago which ment I couldn’t move and had to lay straight for a few days. In a valium haze I took a flight back to my loved ones where a strong man cracked my holy spine loose and I was soon able to walk again. Little did I know it was my troubled hip joint that was the problem in the first place, so had to go back to a horizontal mode. My body then decided Easter was the perfect time to let a god damn flu blossom out, so I spent the whole easter praying to God to get better, drinking ginger tea while watching Apocalypse Now wishing nothing more then that I could have been on that stage with you.”
…even her explanations sound remarkably lykke li. the woman’s gonna be recovering for a bit, but she was able to knock out this killer performance of “get some” from her album wounded rhymes live on jools holland. nice bun, lady li.
sunday laziness sets in, but i’m still throwing this up. catch the rest of the performances here.
mtv recently recorded one of their unplugged music series episodes with everyone’s favorite swede, lykke li. seven songs from her latest alvum wounded rhymes, an oldie, a cover and this – a performance of “possiblity from the new moon soundtrack.
the episode airs april 7th at 9pm eastern.
ms. li continues to release performances from her set on the moon or whatever drug-induced promotional landscape she’s on right now. regardless, here’s the 2nd one in the series, “i follow rivers.” wounded rhymes is out now.
you already know this is awesome, so just watch it.
… and the lykke li inundation continues. miss li brought her sexy little shimmy and menacing grimace to fallon last night were she performed the stomping “get some” from her just released wounded rhymes. there’s a tambourine jam that has to be seen here, folks. this woman is bossy.
lykke li – get some
“acoustic” is a hasty way to put it. this video has much more to offer. the always endearing lykke li gives an “alternative” take of a performance of her latest single from wounded rhymes, which drops tomorrow. awesome blossom, extra awesome.
two b-sides from the lovely swede, who’s wounded rhymes hits stores on march 1st.
